I have a set of 18" RS4 Rep's from Hartmann. Great wheel awesome in every way and the service was amazing as well. but anyway I managed to beat up the curb on two separate occasions. front right rim has a nice scuff along the lip for about half the rim and the back right rim has a 2" thin scuff on the lip as well. Bill has offered to provide a replacement at a great price but I simply can not justify the expense when they will be sitting in my basement until spring anyways.

Here is my question: I have a buddy who has repaired alloy wheels before. what we plan on doing is sanding it w/ some very fine sand paper along the scuff to pretty much polish it out, then I'll get all 4 wheels balanced in the spring prior to putting them back on the car. Has anyone else done this? would this kind of repair cause more damage? I know it won't be possible to make it perfect this way but it will look a heck of alot better than it does w/ the scuff.

any advice is welcomed, thanks in advance!
