I put some deep scuff marks (when in the stock front spoiler. This is the black trim piece connected to the bottom of the front bumper.
If anyone has replaced this, do you know if it is a do-it-yourself job or not? I have had the bumper cap off before, but didn't take a close look at how the 2 pieces are connected. Clair Parts Express has the piece for about $60. Personally, I thought it would be higher.
Anyway, any help on how this piece attaches would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike

I know this because I have just had an estimate to replace my front bumper, due to parking space mishap :-(
The body shop estimate had this piece at $65.
Sharon
'97 1.8T soon to have new front bumper

:*)
I am considering having them paint the lower valence body color (silver in my case), rather than leave it as black, but I think I'd have to do the whole car so that it would look "right". I saw someone else's car who had all the lower black painted body color (NeilM's avant?) and I like the way that looked. Though my damage is only on the front, I have a big scratch on my back bumper, so I'm having that repainted at the same time (the NorCal folks will be happy to hear I'm finally getting that taken care of).
Sharon (now parking more carefully)
'97 1.8t plus stuff...
