Installed the Clair CD changer this weekend, very straigtforward. Only problem was that the bolts used to attach the CD housing to the cargo net buckle assembly were too short, and no nuts were included to screw onto the bolts. I bought new nuts & bolts at the hardware store, but I've got a sinking feeling I did something wrong.
Also - Cutting the trunk carpet on my brand new 2.8QMS (no bose) was a scary experience, though I trimmed it OK round the new CD. My road bike still fits in the trunk too!

I had the same problem installing the changer into my 99 1.8T (I bought the changer and kit from Carlsen in Palo Alto, CA). I checked the archives, and there were a couple of instances where people needed to buy new nuts & bolts for exactly the same problem.
It's worked just fine for the past week.
BTW, what part number do you have for the installation kit? Mine's 8D0051103. Maybe there's a different part # for a kit that actually works!
-- Jeff

I'm thinnking about doing what you guys have done. Was it worth it? How much did it cost? How does it sound?

Sounds good. Needs more bass though.
