View Full Version : Ok... anyone experienced Toyo T1-S and F1 GSD3s?

I am trying to decide between these tires, but keep waffling back and forth. Pricing differences aside, I was leaning toward the Toyos, until I read a ton of people complaining about noise once it wears a bit. :-( The downside of the GSD3s I've heard is that with the soft sidewall, turn in is not that great. Has anyone here had experience with both that can comment?

Thanks!

No answer! :-)

Seriously though, I wish I could help. I'd have a hard time deciding between these two as well.

You can always pick something else, like PS2. :-)

on a friend's TT. The GSD3's are quieter when new, but JUST barely. Nothing significant here. I believe that the noise build up with miles is equally possible with both tires. A product of negative camber. The more you run, the quicker you'll get noise. I've avoided it completely in the past by setting the camber to the minimum specs (-.8 in the front, -1.2 in the back). I found no deficiency in "turn in" with the GSD3's. It might show up on the track, but on the street, unless you are very focused on this handling attribute, you won't notice. The GSD3's are rounder, I could see it on my balancer. The Goodyears are exceptionally "true". Four tires is a small sample, for sure, but the GSD3's were probably the four "truest" tires I've ever seen. The Toyo's are good, and require no more wieght on avarage, but not as perfect. Both are well below the threshold of anything you can feel on the car. Both tires "drive" beautifully with no tramlining, excellent tracking, comfortable ride, good looks, etc. Finally, the Toyo's win hands down on weight, 3-4 lbs lighter per tire. Combined with a really light weight wheel, you CAN feel this. That's the reason I picked them.
