I just received mine and put them in over the weekend. A point of caution is to NOT Touch the lamps with your fingers in that this will reduce the life of the lamps.
I installed them in the low beam slot and they defintitely enhance nighttime visability.
I have heard, however, that the local police in S.Cal. are on the lookout, especially the blue's and enhanced whites. Several people have been pulled over, especially Honda's,etc., when they notice the upgrades in the lights.
I would also like to make a recommendation, for those of you who have lowered your cars, aftermarket wise, you might want to consider adjusting the headlights as well--if the car sits lower--the headlights will angle lower.
Overall, they're exceptionally easy to install and are definitely worth the cost in comparison to the increased nighttime visibility. Gary.

Do these lights appear blue or just a bright white?

Have you heard melting and/or cracking of the lenses with these bulbs? I'm interested in improving my headlights, but I was concerned about that or loosing the integrated foglamps.

I too got PIAA Superwhite last week.
The color is bright white, and I would think they are 20 to 25% brighter
than the stock lights.

I have them in my car and love how white they are. The Law here in Utah specifically states that headlights must be white, so compared to me, all other cars are in violation! :) I think they are great!
The police here are pulling A6s and A8s with xenon left and right. I can't believe how lame the police can be. They need to be educated....
JohnS
Any reason why a cop would pull you over if the lights are not blue? I could understand why they would pull you over if they're blue but not when they're white and just brighter...Can you tell that they are brighter when you're looking at the lights from the front or side?
Thanks

Your question sounds a bit confusing to me, but I think you're asking me
why a cop would pull you over for using bright white bulbs although they are not
as obvious as illegal blue lights.
I don't know about California, but in my area in New York I wouldn't worry about
getting a ticket for having PIAA SuperWhite.
They are more white than stock bulbs, but I would think only certain people would notice the difference.
When my friend installed the lights for me, he first put a bulb on one side and left a stock bulb on the other side to compare and we turned the lowbeam on and looked at them from the front.
To me, the SuperWhite bulb looked 20 to 25% brighter than the stock bulb.
Nozomi
Rob,
I have a car buff friend who administrates a Porsche owners club in Tokyo and sometimes comes here on business.
He bought the bulbs in Tokyo for about $48 at a discount auto parts shop and brought them here.
When I first let him drive my baby early August , he said, "The headlights are dark!" and I replied, "I had my dealer checked it out but was told it's the spec." and he suggested I get PIAA SuperWhite.
I searched the archives on this board and got a lot of information on the bulbs
and proudly reported him that the A4 people have been talking about the bulbs. :-)
If I spend another $500, I can get Bosch Euro lights and can improve more but
life is already expensive and I have to think it over like new clothes vs. the lights. :-(
E-mail me if you cannot get the bulbs and need my help.
Nozomi
