Looking for some help, or suggestions for news tires for my A4 01 (225/45/17) with the celebration package wheels. Right now I have the original Potenza and have snow wheels and tires for the winter. I'm leaning towards the Kuhmos Ecsta MX, they seem to be well reviewed in TireRack - but I've read different reviews here. There's also the Bridgestone Potenza S-03 as well as the Eagle F1 and the Michelin PS2. I guess the bottom line is price - are the Kuhmos cheaper because they're just not as good? Any suggestions, or advise.
I guess I could just invest in the F1 and get what I pay for.
Anyone every heard of Hankook?
Thanks!

Hankook have a great rep in the snow market.
Your choices are all good.
F1, S-03, and PS2 are great choices; you'll probably find S-03 the most popular and the F1 a coveted tire.

Agree with 2000ImolaS4, the MX is indeed a great tire, just a step below the other max performance tires you mentioned, but much less expensive. The MX should be a noticable improvement over your original tires. We've had very good experience with this tire overall.

Tires

I was leaning towards the Kumhos to, but if you look further down the page you will see a post to me from Silver2.7tt, where he talks about kumhos having balancing and out of round issues.
So I decided against those. At the last minute I came accross Fuzion ZRi's, the company is essentially a spin off Bridgestone tires. so they share the same technology. UNI-T, O-Bead(it's suppose to improve tire roundness), silica compound, etc.
I talked to a few guys at the shop that had switched to these from the SO-3's, they felt it wasn't quite as good of a tire but comparable.
I've had a pair on since Monday, I'm vary happy with the tire so far, noise isn't an issue by my standards, turn in repsonse is good it does take more effort, fairly stiff tire but by no means a harsh ride, drove them in the rain on a couple of days, went out of my way to hit standing water on the Highway, hydroplaning wasn't an issue. It hasn't been warm here yet, 40-60 degree weather, I'm under the impression this is a sticky tire, it might get louder on some warm tar, I was told the wear rating would be similar to the SO-3 also, so they won't be high mileage tires, but at $110(225/45/17) a tire I can go through 2 sets of these for less than one set of Michelin pilots ps2's.
I should ad a disclaimer here also, I haven't run on a lot of different tires, so my experiance is limited. I just switched out of my snow tires, some siped Nokians. and before that I had the crappy Perilli P6000's. Prior to my S4 I had 01 A4, I ran the Dunlap SP8000's and the Falken Zeix 512's I believe. This Fuzion tire is quiter or as quite as the other tires, handles better than any one of them to date, I think the Dumlops gave a better ride but those were 16's also.

I've gone with the F1 - figured that way I won't have any regrets and I'm pretty sure I'll be satisfied. Thanks for all the input.
