Has anyone tried to install a 1" tweeter in the front door tweeter. I'm considering using the RSB series MB Quarts. I'm also going to mount the crossovers under the rear seat. I hope they fit. Any response is appreciated.

I have mounted the MB Quart speakers in my 98.5 A4, they fit perfectly with the MB Quart adapters. 5.25 in doors, 6.5 in rear deck,
and tweeter in stock location. No problems in mounting. I will do some time delay and balancing to get a true center image.
However, I have had the RSB 3 way set in my previous car, Alfa Romeo 164L, and hated the sound.
I could not believe it. The sound of the three way with that awesome crossover, was not good. Way too
much emphasis on the mids and highs. MB Quart tweets are bright to begin with. Match that up with
a peaky 4" mid, and the sound is tonally balanced to the high side.
I am much happier with the two-way. Go figure. You know, in good home audio, speaker manufacturers run into the
same problem. It takes thousands to make a very good 3-way system.
Overall, I like the MB's. Still they are a bit bright. Great power handling. I power them with 50 watts RMS from a PPI amp.
Good luck.
DS
I also have the 2 way 5.25's in the front and the 6.5 in the rear deck. They sound great. My installer and MBQuart suggested we put the crossovers in the foam block inside the door. I would have loved to display the cool looking crossovers but that would have meant running tons of extra speaker wire. This way is neat and clean. There are no rattles or excess wind/road noise from the doors. I am very happy with the way it turned out. I have a soundstream amp mounted on the back of the Passenger side rear seat.

As I posted, I've recently driven out to Seattle from Michigan for an internship, and I had some supposedly nice MB Quart separates installed in the front with the A4 adapters and the mid-priced MB Quart crossovers right before I left.
Well, the place was "sorry to leave it like this", and something obviously isn't right. They sound like hell--much worse than the stock/non-bose speakers. Horrible bass like they're blown (right from the start) and a generally horrible, un-tuneable sound.
I don't know exactly how they were installed, but has anyone had a similar experience that was corrected? They're running off an Xtant 4 x 50 amp which came highly recommended (they sounded even worse with an old amp setup.) I'm holding out with the stock radio until I can get something with red lighting, and also connected is a JL sub with a separate amp, and an FM-mod Clarion 12 disc.
Have an appointment Saturday to have them looked at here in Seattle, for a nice fee of course. One listen and the guy knew something was wrong. With my luck, I *would* manage to find the only MB Quart dealer in the country who didn't know how to install them, but is there anything tricky about them? Does anyone else have them hooked up to the factory (Delta) deck via an amp and converter? Any other suggestions on what to have them look for? Thanks a ton in advance.
Rich
'98 2.8Q sport, with putt-putt bass & static in Seattle
ps., the skiing offer still stands--anyone out here?

You have a problem with the install or the equiptment itself. There is nothing really unique about connecting MB's. I would run a totaly seperate line feed to the input of your amp. In other words, rule out the output from the head unit. Run a line level (RCA) cable from a known good source like a home system, or worst case a portable CD player. I bet it is how the "installer" converted the signal from your stock head unit.
If the speakers are out of phase, they will sound shallow with no clearly defined center image. However, they will still sound infinetly better than the non-Bose system.
Check the fader on the head unit.
Good luck.
