I went in to find out a couple of things and this is what happened:<br>1) I am going to take a test drive tomorrow at 3pm, I wanted to test drive both Tip and Manual back to back. Marshall(the dealer guy) told me he would probably just have the Tip, and MAYBE the stick..."but I could feel what the manual is like just by driving the Tip." Yeah right Marshall! If I can't get the stick tomorrow, I'll go back when they have it.<br>2) He told me the 1.8T "has NO turbo lag". Is that right Marshall, that's not what I hear at A4.org!<br>3) He told me that Black, Santorin Blue and Silver are the 3 hottest selling colors for the A4..probably true, However I have seen just about every color on the road and in these forums...(i think silver is the HOTTEST though!)<br>4) Leasing: I told him I saw a commercial for $249/month-$3ooo down...He said that it was actually a nationwide sale going for $299/month for Manual("a little higher for Tiptronic")with $3500 down...I forgot how long he said the term was. So the commercial is wrong?<br>5) He said that the A4 has beat its competitors(3-series Bimmer) for 3 consecutivew years. <br>6) He told me that the quattro brings the A4 to about 3300lbs..and that is comparable to a 328i rear wheel drive. And how awesome the quattro system is...I know, I want it anyway!<br> So I really just went in as a nonsuspecting victim, I mean consumer, and he took it from there. He was very comfortable in Beiner's reputation and "I would be very happy shopping there." I will take the test drive(s) tomorrow and let you know how it goes from there. I still want to check out Star Motors in Nanuet and a place in W. NY, NJ. <br>

The 1.8 turbo begines to make boost below 2000 ( I think 1500rpm) rpm, and vurtually every article written on this car has pointed out this cars lack of "turbo lag", this was one of the reasons Audi uses a small turbo. Who on this board has said a Stock 1.8T has Turbo lag? This may seem like a small point, but people read this and may hear the term Turbo Lag and get turned off for no reason. I will be glad to pull out the many articles I have saved talking about the lack of Turbo Lab if you want to see them. Also you may want to try Pray Audi in Greenwich CT. They are the largest US dealer and I was also told largest in the world and as such recieve more inventory, and may be able to supply you with a car without a wait as they did with me.

I live on Long Island and I know Legend has a large supply of A4s of all types. Its only about a 20 minute drive from Biener. I have never brought from Legend so I don't know how they are. My dealer is Donaldson's in Sayville. Great place, great people. Kind of a haul from Great Neck, about 40 minutes. Good Luck!<br>

No,Christian, shifting a Tip is NOT the same as driving a manual. Where did you see this $249/$3000 down lease ad? It must have been A DEALER or group of dealers running it, because he's right: Audi's national ad at the moment is $299/$2000 down for a 1.8 5-peed. As with almost every lease-payment ad you'll see for ANY car, low, low payments mean low, low mileage, low, low options, and a considerable down-payment IN ADDITION TO START-UP COSTS ie:1st mo., security deposit, bank fee, M.V. fees, etc. A $299/$2000 down is really $299+tax every month with around $3300 at delivery. It's not wrong, or dishonest, it's he way leases are advertised.

I'll look, but you may also find great reprints from R+T, C+d, and others at your local dealer. I have these issues and I'll try and find them SAT.

I bought my '98 1.8t from three rivers auto and because of poor customer service it gets serviced at another dealer. the cumulative score they got from the phone survey was below 50. how a dealership handles their customers certainly does make a difference.

Bought my 1.8 TQMS from Donalson's in mid August - just went in for first service yesterday. Service peraonnel were very curtious and the drop off process smooth. I had no problems with y request for the control module reprogramming (supplied FAQ from A4.org) - no resistance from my service advisor and no charge either for the procedure was mentioned.<p>Unfortunately, they found an oil leak and were unable to finish the repair yesterday so I'm stuck with the Jetta they lent me until Monday. They did call me yesterday afternoon to fill me in and to apologize for any inconvenience the delay might cause. The service advisor did add that the reprogramming was complete and functioning as expected. Can't wait to check it out for myself ....<p>- Charlie (98.5 1.8TQMS, 4900 miles)

I am a college student so my service jobs are currently shared by two dealers. Don Rosen Imports in Conshohocken, PA and Audi of Huntington in Huntington, NY. My mother currently has an A8 from Huntington, and the service guy treats us both pretty well considering how much I bother him if I'm not satisfied. I currently don't go to Biener because first, it is a little far from my house, and second, their customer service was really not up to par. My buying experience was less than satisfactory, but at the time, they were the only dealer on the east coast with the car I wanted in stock. I bought the car, paid too much for it, and let the dealer install a center console. Needless to say, they hacked it up pretty bad. When I brought it to Huntington, they were shocked that a dealer would deliver a car like that. I brought it back to Biener, offering them an opportunity to fix their mistake before I called Audi of North America, and they simply covered up the gaping hole in the rear with a piece of cloth tape. At the time I had to return to school, so I couldn't follow it up much further, but hear you me, I will never buy another thing from Biener Audi and wouldn't let a friend either. Friends don't let friends buy from Biener!<p>Seth<br>'97 1.8tqms
