I got a '98 A4 2.8Q, with Onyx interior. What drives me crazy is the wood trim. So if anybody out there has a trim that fits my car and has the same color as my onyx interior and would like to trade it, let's talk.

Your trim is interchangable with any other Quattro A4. Non-Quattro A4's will not have a Quattro interior badge on the trim section to the left of the steering column. No interior trim types will match your Onyx interior, in that Audi does not manufacture trim pieces that are leatherette. BMW does, or used to (the 6-series had matched leather trim available). If you are simply looking for trim of the same color, you could easily get any good custom leather shop to put factory leatherette over your wood trim and then glue it back in with automotive adhesive. If you are looking for the carbon print trim, I have it if you'd like to trade. Otherwise it'll just be sitting around in storage somewhere. If you want it, that's fine, otherwise it doesn't make a difference to me.
Cameron

Have no clue. I did try once to remove it using just a screwdriver and lots of enthuziasm, but i stopped before I could do some damage. If you come to think of it, there has to be a way known to man and I will find out. Maybe someone on the forum knows how to remove / replace the trim?

Okay, the same goop that attaches everything else cosmetic on the A4 also attaches the trim to the dash insets. Take a good, hot hairdryer. Not the one your girlfriend leaves lying around all the time that's a perky shade of blue and is guaranteed not to singe hair. That one never works for car stuff, I've tried it. Use the old one you used to debadge your decklid, the one you can't even imagine pointing at your head. Warm up the trim until it hurts a little to touch it. Peel away.
Note: If you damage your A4 doing this, I'm not responsible. This is not something I recommend doing, and is not something I can recommend on behalf of Audi or any dealer or any A4 expert.
I only had to do this because there was a rattle in a trim piece. I took it off and put it back on, squeek/rattle is gone.
Cameron
The trim is fastened with metal clips!! I think what cameron is talking about is taking the trim apart.. It concists of two parts, a wooden part, glued to a metal/plastic part.
By removing the doorpanels, you can easily peel of the metal clips that holds the trim in place! The tought part comes when you shall remove the big piece on the dashboard! Uh.. You'll have to remove everything from the rear ashtray behind the handbrake and forward. (The platic covers, the middle console panel, the stereo, the row of buttons below the air outlet, and everything else you see there.. ) to reveal the last clip located just above the hazard-lights-button (or whatever it is called in english!)..
Good luck!
