I have decided to order the Meguiar's foam pads to be safe. I'll probably also get their how-to video on the PC polisher. The pads are foam with a plastic base plate. There are no bonnets. You attach the pads directly to the polisher. These pads coupled with the dual action polisher are supposed to be very safe. Check out the link for a picture of the unit.
Mark (98.5 2.8 QMS)

PC7424_Link

The 7424 price is just about what we sell them for--a little less on our side.
This is afairly good model, the pad will work for the A4 quite fine. You will have to remember that when using this pad, you will have to run the polisher at a slower RPM, you don't want to "burn" the clear coat finish that is on the A4.
Also, try not to "push" too hard when using the pad. If you can, try testing it out on another car that is a little older, this will give you some good practice, for there's a lot of touque on that little sucker! e-mail if you have any other further questions. I hope it helps!

MarkG, save your money. Don't buy the video. I have the unit from Griot's with their pads and have used it several times. (The first time was on a loaner from my Audi dealer!). Patrick B. and I can answer any questions you may have. You'd waste the cash on the video, watch it once and have it collect dust forever and ever.
Happy waxing and polishing!!
