I have a question about the S4. Outside of the slick wheels and nifty headlights, could someone please convince me that an S4 is worth the extra $ over a modified 1.8T?
Thanks

View Full Version : A4 w/ K04 vs. S4... Worth the buck$? Interested 12-11-1998, 06:53 AM I have a question about the S4. Outside of the slick wheels and nifty headlights, could someone please convince me that an S4 is worth the extra $ over a modified 1.8T?
Thanks Oscar 12-11-1998, 06:59 AM So b/c you get 6 speed and a V6 Twin Turbo with HUGE potential, better brakes, more advanced ABS and a better looking car. Let's put it this way, a S4 comes somewhat modified from the factory.
Oscar 97.5 1.8TQM wishing it was a S4 Paul Cormier 12-11-1998, 07:17 AM Yeah, because the Factory did it. But I don't have $45K so I'll keep my A4 1.8t and chip it and be happy. -- PC MartinR 12-11-1998, 07:25 AM Well, I have not seen any tech details on the S4 yet, but I would assume it probably makes 250 hp at 0.5 bar of boost, has beefed up driveshafts , gearbox etc to handle the power and torque. 1.8T with Ko4 etc to get 250 HP is pushing the envelope (of the rest of the car) , IMO. I mean , a 1.8T with all the mods, ie K04, new intercooler, exhaust system, intake manifolds etc etc probably has a "list" price of $33-35K ? (Assuming options, such as suspension, sun roof etc etc). The S4 is supposed to be around $40K? So its about a 5-7K premium. For me, I would pay the premium and take the S4, all things being equal. $7K over the life of 5-7 yrs car is not that much. But that is my opinion - others will think differently. Andrew C. 12-11-1998, 07:53 AM |
