I just took delivery of my new A6Q 2.7T TIP and was sorely disapointed with the fact that it came with 16" wheels and totaly dead Conti 215/55/16 tires. So...seeing as I did not want to spend the bucks on new wheels and tires I decided to upgrade only the tires. I selected 225/50/16 Pirrelli P6000 Sport veloce and was told by the dealer that these would have virtualy the same hight and size of the original tires. Well the handling characteristics of the car greatly improved. However when comming into a dip or a high speed turn the tires on the side that you are turning will rub it sounds like on the inside wheel well.

What can I do? Would getting the sport springs from the dealer help? My concern here is that it lowers the profile of the car by 1-1.5" would'nt it make the tires moree likely to rub more. Please help.

Sorry, but they are NOT the same diameter as OEM. The new tires you bought are actually smaller in dimater but wider in width. The dealer was/is wrong on this one (go figure!!) Compare tire sizes in the link below and find one (225/55/16) that is closer to OEM. Hope this helps.
