I posted this a while back with very little response. Here's another try. Recently I've notice that on slow, sharp turns, under mild acceleration (turning either way), I sometimes feel a very slight jerk/looseness transmitted through the steering wheel. It's very slight, it doesn't always happen. But I think it's new.
Any comments? Does anyone else have this? Should I raise it with my dealer? Could it be due to colder weather (changes in bushings...?). thanks.
Tom
1.8TQMS Silver/Ecru

Complaints about the lack of "feel" in the A4's steering (and on Audis throughout modern history) can be found in the reviews, and it may be this phenomenon that your are detecting. I believe it is the power assist, which auto journalists sometimes gripe is "overboosted". I have heard as well that the "virtual center" front suspension, with its extra ball joints and angles, contributes to a certain indirectness in the feel. But none of this stuff should result in play or looseness, just indistinctness, combined with some of the most confidence-inspiring stability and agility in cornering you will find.
If you do take it to the dealer, be sure to make someone take it for a test drive with you in the car.
I understand what you're saying, but the thing I'm noticing is as if someone tapped on the steering wheel as I make the turn. Thanks for the comments.

until it is fixed or you are persuaded that it is within spec.
If your feeling a tap there is a chance that something is loose, don't wait, get it checked.

and I've also read that this is the Torsen Diff on sharp (read hitting the steering wheel lock) slow turns.
I thought it was the tire rubbing something at full turn. I'm having the dealer take a look this weekend.
Andrew
98.5 2.8qms
