Question...
Has anyone had any difficulties in installing rear brake pads on a 1.8T? I'm trying to replace mine and have been unable to "screw" the piston back into the rear caliper...it seems to turn fine, but it's not retracting Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
Rod M.
97 1.8T QMS

Rod......
Guess what I have the same problem. I installed the L&R front Mintex redbox pads as the FAQ recommends all went smoothly. The left rear pad was installed and the piston retracted as described.
The RR in another story. I gnarled up a perfectly good pair of needlenose pliers in rotating clockwise about 12 times. The piston rotated smoothly but would not retract one mm. It appears that there may be some
I (we) perhaps did not know about in order to get the piston retracted correctly. As you I am hoping for some input in order to have all 4 corners the same. The stock pads are back in the RR.
3/4 mintex Pete
Rod,
I have just spoken to an experienced Audi tech. He indicated that I (we) need to apply some perssure to the piston as it is turned clockwise. This should do the trick as they say. I'll attempt this later today. I'll post if this process works.
PeterV
