It costs extra... but well worth it.
Otherwise, smaller items are usually done by cheques.

Some delivery people will accept a personal check, which they are NOT supposed to do.

So just make sure that you specify, so you don't get stuck holding a bad check.

When I ship something COD, I also like to receive a small deposit by check to cover shipping expenses, in case the recipient cannot be reached, or if the package is refused. I don't want to be stuck for round trip shipping -- especially with larger items.
