All the recent stereo posts have inspired me to ask a question:
Where are you IASCA-types mounting your amps and crossovers? I have two 40W Coustic amps driving the fronts/rears and one 100W Coustic amp driving the sub, plus a crossover. I mount the big amp and crossover to the back of the rear seats of my current car, but I'm guessing the A4's 60-40 rear seats might make that a PITA. So what should I do?
Also, is anyone running with a center channel or are those totally passe/ineffective?

You can put them pretty much anywhere you want to in the trunk...
You can build them off to the side or fabricate a rack which complements your box. Use you imagination...

Mounting amps & crossovers to the back of the seats is a mistake imho. I compete in IASCA, and have been into high fidelity car audio of many too many years.
You have to build an amp rack at the least, and better yet, a cabinet. There is too much free play on the back of the seats. It is aesthetically not the best and it will restrict the very purpose of the folding seats. Bad. Minus big time points, don't compete.
A cabinet housing the processors can be mounted on the bottom of the rear deck. The center part of the deck is flat. Mount the box with hinges and cable lock all the wires if there are any adjustment areas. Of course, the next step would be a sliding box off the rear deck.
The power distribution goodies can be put in the storage bin that is shared with the CD changer. Remove the spare tire equiptment, wrap in breathable material, and place secured with the tire itself. Put all power accessories such as Cap, distribution blocks, etc in this bin, and replace the stock cover.
The amps go in a box on the floor. Remove the trunk mat. Get some trunk carpet and trim to shape. Build a ventilated amp box with a cover. Try for as low profile as possible. Or, put in a raised floor. Mount amp box on top of new trunk carpet. Run wires under carpet and cable lock. Place Audi trunk mat over all.
Don't forget the circuit breaker/fuse within 18", or better yet 12" of the battery. Same gauge cable for ground and power. Fuse all processors. Seperate power wires from signal. And on and on and. . .
