Just wondering what the maximum wheel/tire size for an audi 90 is without having to interfere with the suspension and scraping on the undercarriage?
would this be different if i installed the eibark sports suspension kit?
If i was to install this should i change the shocks?
would this increase the handling of the car signifacantly?
I have 16"x7.5" (not sure what offset)wheels and 215/45/ZR16 tires on my '89, 90Q. You could probably easily get 17"x8" or possibly even an 18"x8.5", although the offset would require that the wheel stick out the side quite a bit. Realistically, I wouldn't recommend more than a 17"x8" wheel. The biggest issue I found when wheel shopping was that wheels over 16" were only available in 5 bolt patterns; atleast the ones I wanted. My 90Q has a 4 bolt hub.
The Eibach kit will lower the car about 1", according to my source, although I have not actually done it. If you are going to spend the money to have the kit installed, you may as well do it right and upgrade the shocks. THe Bilsteins seem to be the most highly recommended for the Eibach spring set. With this setup, you shouldn't have any rubbing problems. H&R also makes a spring set that would lower the car about 1/2" or so more than the Eibach set and is also highly recommended with the Bilstein shocks. This is the setup I was going to do before deciding to order a TT soon.
I went from 195/60/R14 tire size to the 215/45/ZR size (Pirelli P7000 Summers), so the performance increase was dramatic. There is some increased noise and harshness, but not a significant amount.
All said, I think Gary@Ronal could give you better fitment ideas. One thing is for sure; if you have 14" wheels like I had, you will not be disappointed with a wheel and tire upgrade! :-)
Charles
