My 2.8qms has 17,000 glorious miles on it, however the driver's side rear tire is dead. What I would like to know from those of you more experienced with these tires is:
a) where can i get a replacement sp8000e? tirerack?
b) is it worth it to put a brand new tire on a car with three tires that are near the end of their life cycle? (dont these puppies only get about 25k miles?)
I was thinking about getting some all season tires put on my 5 spoker's for the winter here in Jersey (which is a crock since it's 62 degrees today) and then getting some 17"ers in spring.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Jim S
98 2.8qms silver
I like the sound of the "winter tires on OEM wheels and 17-inchers in spring" option. Mainly 'cos that's what I'm gonna do!! :) Let us know what 17-inch wheel/tire combo you decide on :) :)
My top contenders for a 17" package are the ronal r-28/p7000ss package or a!avantgarde type s 17x8.
The ronals are $1350 shipped. The a!avantgarde wheels are ~$350-400 each rim, and i'd go with some pole positions on them. If money were no object, I'd go with A!, but if christmas bonuses aren't real hot, then ronal's it is :)
Jim S

Don P has all the information you need on how to get a 8000E if you decide you want to go that route. It is not real simple. You can access his web site or search the archives for his comments on this. His site is listed in the links
