I don't want to look too "aftermarket", I just want a nice aggressive look. Thx.
Do you mean you don't want the wheel sticking out of the fender with hugh wheels and fat tires or do you not want super low profile tires? The most common size that people on here use is 225/45/17 on 17x8 wheels. I have this combo and it doesn't exactly fit inside the wheel well (1/4" sticking out) upfront but in back it looks perfect. There are numerous pictures in the gallery to look at so you can decide for yourself. You could also put on 215/45/17 on 17x7.5 if you want the wheels to be totally inside the fender. This is all just my humble opinion of course.
Jake

I'm considering, down the road of course and after my original Dunlop SP8000 E's wear out, upgrading to 17" wheels and tires. Presently, I'm interested in the 17" x 7.5" S4 Avus-Design wheels, or the A!vantgarde type "S" "17" x 8" wheels. You're telling me that the A!vantgardes would stick out of the fender/wheel well in front? Hmm... I wasn't aware of that, especially considering so many people here have the 17" x 8.5" Ronal R-28's.
JT 99' 1.8Tqms

The 17X8 wheel by itself will not stick out...but mixed with a low offset...it might...It is a mixture of wheel width with low offset than can get wheels/tires to go past the fender. I think 17X8" would be just fine...I have seen alot of them.
Steve S.
97 2.8QM (with 17X8.5" Ronal R-28 wheels)

Here is a pic of the 17x8's I have. Great quality wheel specifically manufactured for the A4 in England. No spacers required. You can get them through:

Motorsport Specialties
