Are all VAG 5-bolt wheels the same offset/width? Specifically, can I use one of the 15" steel "winter rims" from my 1994 VW Jetta GLX as a full-size spare in my soon-to-be delivered 1999 A4? (And I guess that would allow me to use one of the 15-inch BBS Jetta "summer rims" as a winter spare...)
TIA,
Jason

There are a few different 5-bolt applications in the VW/Audi parts bin... I've heard that the 5-bolt Jetta wheels were relatively interchangeable with the B4 Passat, which is totally different that the B5 Passat (and thus A4).
I'd call the Tire Rack (www.tirerack.com) and ask them to be sure.
Now if you wanted a full 15" steel spare, find 3 other A4 owners and get a set of steel take-offs from a B5 Passat. Maybe Tire Rack would sell you one.
AJL
98 Passat 1.8T

I'm about 99.99% sure that the B5 Passat is the only one in the VW line-up
that uses the 5x112 bolt pattern. Don't know if the new Jetta will, but not the old one.
Should be possible by hook or crook to get hold of a B5 take-off....
