View Full Version : what are the widest tires I can put on my stock 15". anyone try sizes other than stock 195/65/15?? gary c 11-06-1998, 07:58 AM I need to relace my stock 195/65/15 tires soon. looking to keep stock rims. how wide can/should I go. any suggestions? CraigB 11-06-1998, 08:40 AM You should be able to go 225/55/15 without any problem, but the tire would bulge quite a bit on the stock 15x7" rim.
CraigB JSr 11-06-1998, 11:53 AM Just put 215/60VR15 Michelin Pilot XGTV4s on my 99 GLS with VW Adelaide
alloys. Major improvement over the stock Contis. Neil W. recommended this size with 15" wheels, on his "Tire Machine" page... Neil Weinstock 11-06-1998, 03:35 PM I would think 215/60R15 is about the best you can do, or 205/60R15 if you want
the widest selection (as opposed to the widest tire. :-)
225/55R15 is also a workable size, but there very many (!) tires made in that size,
and actually I'm not sure if that would be too wide for those rims, or if it would rub.
Hard to find info for that size, since it's so rare.... Jan 11-06-1998, 05:51 PM What is the Tire Machine" page? We are looking for wheel & tire info, will this page be helpful? Thanks
Jan Neil Weinstock 11-06-1998, 09:06 PM Well, I *hope* it's helpful.... :-O
See link below. It's also on the A4.org
links page (which generates a huge percentage
of the hits to the page, not too surprisingly.)

Passat/A4 Wheel and Tire Page

|
