View Full Version : Pictures of your cars appreciated... PM3 12-08-1998, 09:59 AM I am starting up a gallery on my little website. And being that I like Audis I would like to include yours. Thanks again,

PM3
www.geocities.com/motorcity/pit/7144 Andy Hedin 02-01-1999, 01:15 PM The answers to your questions can be found at the FAQ section of the web site listed below. Happy reading!
Andy Hedin
'97 A4 1.8Tqms, Wett 1.0 Bar Chip, ABT Filter, Valeo Euro Headlights
with PIAA SuperWhite's, A!AvantGarde Grill, Smoked Side-Markers,
Clear Corner-Markers, Tint, Rofren Brake Pads

FAQ @ Stern Lighting

Drew S. 02-01-1999, 03:31 PM Europe has different lighting standards than the US. The US hasn't changed their standards in a couple of decades I believe, and so we suffer with inferior lights on new cars.
Euro headlights have a different lens which is reported to aim the light better. Also, every Euro lens I've heard of has been glass as opposed to the plastic lenses we get in the US. I am talking about ordinary Euro lights as compared to ordinary US lights.
HID lighting is something above and beyond the ordinary Euro lights. Read the FAQ that Andy posted for more info on HIDs.
Basically, if you want to upgrade the lights on an A4, your choices are:
1) Re-aim your existing lights (Free!)
2) buy new (higher wattage) bulbs ($100+)
3) upgrade the headlamps to Euro lamps ($400+)
4) upgrade the headlamps to HID ($1200+)
5) Go to a Police auction and buy a user helicopter spotlight, and mount it on your roof ($????)
6) Buy some night vision goggles! ($????)
These prices are estimates.
Andrew C. 02-01-1999, 04:20 PM in the A4 part the review said something along the lines of "...one thing though, the A4 still uses obsolete Glass headlamps instead of shatterproof polycarbonate" Didn't say that for either of the other two cars (Alfa & BMW).
It sounds like not all Euros are glass these days. Dank 02-01-1999, 04:50 PM ? Boris 02-01-1999, 05:43 PM I just seen the HID headlight set coming from S4 this morning from the Shop call "PG performance".. It is very nice.. and it also come with the clear corner. It cost about $1800 CDN. It not expensive.. It looks like the newer version 99.5 A4 headlight. It anyone interest call Paul and see that light..or go to Vancouver A4 club and check the link to see his website..

http://www.pgperformance.com/index.htm

ChrisWB 02-01-1999, 06:27 PM Andy Hedin 02-01-1999, 06:51 PM Ray Calvo 02-01-1999, 08:23 PM Probably true, considering how fancy some of these headlight assembly/lens designs are getting. Then again, plastic lens probably not a bad idea - had a Euro headlight glass lens shatter on old Coupe Quattro (rock hit). Was lucky to be able to find lens alone and repair it.
|
