Some people were talking about the new Headlights on Wetterauers site. here is the image.
Id say they are pretty cool but they need to be matched with an equally cool grille which they dont have..

JimV
1.8TQTipSportWett

Wetterauer

...how would you integrate them into the front end?
If you paint them (housings) body colour you'll have an unsightly break in the front end because your clear corner lights will look out of place.
I suppose one could chrome the housings so they appear to have a clear/reflector look that is uniform through the front corners.
I have seen these lights painted body colour one black and red cars in europe and I have to say they look like hell.
Anyway... just my opinion.
Kev
Hey Everyone,
From my euro car magazines (not EC, I mean car mags from Europe), they seem like a very popular mod for Euro cars. A company called Morette makes these conversions for everything from Audi 80's, Euro Escorts, Peugeots, Renault, Seat, Impreza, Vauxhall, to VW Golf, for which the twin round conversion is also popular in North America.
And as far as I know, there are no real twin round headlight conversions for most Jap cars.
Am I the only one who likes this twin round conversion? Hmm. . . Maybe I am a rice boy . . .
if that's the necessary label. :-)

James Wu (Rice Bucket) <-- for you Mandarin speakers from Taiwan :-)
A4 Club of Vancouver
1998 Black/Onyx 1.8tqa (wanting dual rounds)

A4 Club of Vancouver

The headlight insets don't integrate as well as they should. It's an attempt to make the fascia look more like a Lancia. I personally like that look, but it doesn't quite work here.
"Rice boy" has always been derogatory to my knowledge; it is a stab at form-without-function modifications. As far as racism goes, I go by the sticks&stones rule.

cheers,
-K (rice-eating Bengali Babu)

Reminds me of the Intega headlight light assembly. Just my first impressions. And no offense taken on the RB inferrence; I use it myself sometimes.
HermanH (as in Hong)
98.5 Passat 1.8tm

I remember how back in the '60s and '70s we all howled and moaned over archaic US headlight laws that lead to ugly, round sealed beams being installed in place ot the sleek, aerodyanmic European headlights in our cars. Now we get stand-up, round headlights as a "go fast" option. I'll take my Hella European pattern lights with integral fogs over these!

My Z3 has round lights -- but under aerodynamic covers. If Wettauer would do something like that it wouldn't look so atrocious. How about some nice, baroque, non-functional Z3 gills on the side of the TT?
only the US version of the type R has the double round healights. In Japan they opt for the sporter slant headlights similar tothe old integra lights. THe double round are not that appealing to Japanese car enthusiast (so says the word on the street.

It's Honda everywhere else. Probably the reason for the difference in headlights (among other things).
CraigB
