I just had my 2.8 serviced for the first time, and this morning when I checked the dipstick, I noticed that the oil level just barely reached the MIN mark. Is this normal, or did the dealer put in too little oil?

View Full Version : Too little oil? You're not in trouble as long as you don't corner hard, then you might lose pressure momentarily (not good, but not catastrophic). Don't ever let it disappear from the dipstick entirely.
Todd W John 10-26-1998, 12:36 PM I just took it back to the dealer, who verified that the oil level was too low (and I'd only driven it about 50 miles since it was serviced). There was no harm done to the engine, but it makes me wonder how this could happen and it plants a seed of doubt regarding the quality of future service. Alex Popper 10-26-1998, 12:50 PM Mine came back a quart low after the last oil change. I hate to sound cynical but if the dealer short changes each oil change by a quart, it can add up to a nice windfall in his pocket over a period of time. John P. 10-26-1998, 03:57 PM nt
|
