How long do shocks and springs last ( normal street driving ) ? Aside from a leaking shock or a broken spring, do you ever have to replace them due to performance degradation ? Is there a different timeline for stock vs. aftermarket ?
Donnie

One of my stock shocks died at about 8K miles...at the time I put the H&R coilovers. I am wondering if and when they will lose some of the dampening power. Sounds like Roland at H&R will be pretty helpful if anything does happen.
BTW, did you get my email?
Steve S.
97 2.8QM

Under normal driving conditions, the springs should last the life of the car.
The life of shocks vary greatly depending on the company, type and use. Most normal shocks under 'normal' driving conditions should last at least 60k and may go to 100k. I've found that I usually have to replace shocks every 60 - 80k under normal conditions. Most people don't even replace shocks until their mechanic tells them to (either b/c they can;t align the car, unusualy tire wear, etc) because they just can;t tell. However, if the car feels looser through turns, burmps, etc ... its usually a sign that you need shocks, and in rarer cases, bushings.
