I was looking forward to my first service so I could change to Mobil 1. I was also dreading it, as there are only 2 Houston dealers, one I pissed off not buying there, the other known to be ... not the best (Mahan).
Last Friday I happened to have to go to downtown, so I thought I could save a trip there if I could just get the 5000 service done a little early: I was at only 4800. Called Mahan: No problem! was the answer. Can you take me in this afternoon? No problem! again. Hmm, 2 months ago when I called they said I need an appointment 3-4 weeks in advance.
I went in and got the following done:
- put on front license plate (I got the car in OK, so they did not put it on)
- get TX state inspection
- top off coolant/washer
- oil/filter
- replace some missing screws
It was done in 2:30. Not too good, not too bad, but I must mention the service manager: Roy Mann. He started with Mahan about a month ago, and the improvement in turnaround time can be apparently attributed to him. Extremely courteous, friendly etc.
Just ask for him, he is the audi service manager.

Made the appointment last Monday...first opening was Friday at 9am. Not too bad.
In & out in 1:30 (got to watch first 30 minutes of the UT-A&M game while I waited!).
Oil change & filter (brought Mobil 1 15W50), some kind of additive to gas (forgot to ask what it was), topped off washer & coolant, rotated tires, & tried to track down a clicking at the right front wheel...replaced ABS sensor wire cuz others had come in with similar problem...we'll see if it works.
Also got a interior & exterior clean!
Last bonus of using McGill ---> you get to look at all the pretty 911's (of varying vintages) going in & out.
Great job!
steve

I had my car serviced at McGill several times with no problem. Only thing is that they are usually busy on Monday and Friday, but if you can drive in and will service you anyway. I usually get a free loaner car from them.

Is an additive normal for first service? Who knows what it may be? I just got my first service last Friday (called on Tuesday) brought the car home that night, didn't drive Saturday, Sunday the car started rough - ran like it was miss-firing on a cylinder briefly - then ran fine. The MIL came on, I drove around the block - everything seemed fine, took it out on the highway and rev'ed it - light hasn't cleared.
Haven't called dealer yet. I'm wondering if additive may have knocked crud lose and clogged and injector or something - I've used 91 or better octane fule - Mostly Shell, some Texaco once Exxon (had no choice) so I'd be surprised if this is the case - nice coincidence though, this happening for the first time right after a service. Anyone with similar experience?

I had a misfired and the check engine light came on. Took to the dealer, they resetted the light and added the gas additive to help prevent carbon built up that caused the misfire. They said it was the detergent in the gas that caused the built up. The gas additive treatment is standard for 15K service interval.
