View Full Version : Do any of the 30V chips fix this trait ?

I've got about 500 miles on my 99 Avant QMS and absolutely love the car. There is one trait however that bugs me. The revs drop very slowly when shifting (I assume to reduce emmisions) and I would like to correct this "feature" if possible. I find it particularly bothersome with 1st to 2nd gear changes. I don't plan any other performance modifications as this is a leased company car, and want to maintain the stock drivability. Any suggestions ?
Thanks in advance ... Bob H.

Sounds like the flywheel is a little heavier than what you would like. You could go to a lightened flywheel, but given you don't plan on any other modifications, I suggest you learn to live with it.
Just a guess...
Dwayne
94 S4

Have a 98.5 QMS, and still have same problem you describe at 5000 miles. I have noticed I can alleviate this somewhat by letting up on gas a moment before declutching to avoid engine "rev up" and start it decellerating sooner, but it is just a band-aid. Intend to bring this up to my dealer at the 7500 mile service.
