Hi everyone! I just got a 2008 Audi A3 and I absolutely love it to death...HOWEVER, I am having trouble trying to get my music to play from my mp3 device on the car stereo. I have two slots for the SD cards, a 6 disc CD changer, and a iPod interface in the glove compartment. I do not have an iPod at the moment because I listen to my songs from my HTC Evo 4G. I thought that I would be able to use the SD card from my Evo to play the music from my phone on the car stereo. However, it didn't work (The microSD card in my phone is 8G and it has about 200+ songs in it). I should note that all the songs on the microSD are in mp3 format. So, I decided to try the Bluetooth audio streaming route. But, apparently Audi cars don't have this technology yet...? If I can't get the Bluetooth to work, I would really like to use the SD cards to play my music...just until I can get an iPod. Who knew that Audis were so anti-Android? :) Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Sounds like you have an RNS-E. I think your SD problem is that you have SDHC cards and the RNS-E doesn't read SDHC. You can get some smaller (2GB) SD cards. Also do you have an AUX connector in the compartment under the armrest? If so you could get a bluetooth reciever dongle and cable to stream from your phone.

I do have an SDHC card - I will pick up a 2GB on my next visit to Best Buy. I do not have an AUX connector - my old VW Beetle had one and it was really easy to use...really wish the Audi A3 had this.
So are you saying that I can only use an SD card up to 2GB? What if I found an 8GB non-SDHC card? Would that work or no?

The problem with larger cards is that the RNS-E software only supports 400 "items" (files/folders) per card.

Ok, are there any cables that I could use as a backup to the SD card option? I ordered an audi mmi usb cable but it doesn't fit in the glove box. I think I have an ipod adapter instead of a 6 disc cd changer. If there are any cables that would allow me to plug my Evo and play it from the stereo, that would be awesome.

Officially, the SD standard only goes up to 2GB. However, there are a few 4GB SD cards out there that are known to work in the older RNS-E. There are no 8GB SD cards -- they're all SDHC.
