Hi Friends,

I am new here, and am in market for Audi Q7 or Lexus RX350.I heard that Q7 weight is way high and 2013 is coming with better model, also that there are some suspension issues. Can you all, please share your 2012 experience so far and how are the maintenance costs. Are the deals genarally more attractive in may/june or this is best time ?(2.4% Lease offer currently)

Thanks

True story and why I would never buy an RX350 or any car without real AWD...

I was coming home from JFK airport and driving on the service road to one of the highways near my house, and an RX350 was tailgating me. There's one part of the service road that is a pretty tricky S curve. There wasn't any rain. Speed limit on the service road is either 30 or 35 and we were probably doing 40-45. I negotiated the S curve just fine, without slowing down, as I always have since I knew that my car could handle it. The RX350 right behind me took the first part of the turn and then on the way out of the second part of the S curve the RX350 lost it's grip and at one point the car was balanced on only the wheels on one side of the car, or to make a long story short, he almost flipped. The driver barely and luckily regained control.

If we had been going just 5mph more, I think he would have lost control and flipped the vehicle. Moral of the story. Not all AWD is created equal...

I'm on my phone so this will be brief. Major maintenance parts are the brakes and tires. Pads by 30k. Rotors 60k. Tires 20-30K. I.don't know of any major suspension issues, even with the air suspension. I went ahead and got the extended warranty for peace of mind, mainly for the air ride. You definitely have to test drive with one before you purchase.

The weight of the vehicle is heavy, although both the tdi and tfsi engines have good power so you don't feel it the weight too much. You will notice some body roll while cornering but dynamic mode with the air ride help quite a bit.

Thope that helps a bit. Thanks

I'll 2nd that. Ive not heard of any major suspension issues and I actually watch out for and count this very sort of thing.
