Lots of good info here, if you can manage the German language, and figure we wont necessarily see every option here in the States. About 7+MB.

I saw the S7 at the DC car show, and it had that color interior.

How did it look in person? and how did the exterior look in person?

I'm not a huge fan of the diamond stitching. I prefer the two-tone seats with contrasting stitching in my S4. My wife really liked it, though. And I didn't think the color matched too well with the exterior, which was something called "Lunar Silver" -- gorgeous. I think black with silver stitching would have looked better. They had an S6 and S8 on display with identical combinations. They also all had Alcantara headliners, which seems a bit of overkill.

Of course, I wouldn't turn the car down simply because it had a odd stitching pattern on the seats...

I saw the S7 in Detroit and the S cars were Silver cars with black sport seats and diamond stitching. The seats look nice in black, the contrasting stitching giving it a nice look setting it off from basic black seats. (Magma red probably doesnt need anything extra)

As an S5 owner, I didn't anticipate the S7 sport seats being identical to my S5 (save the diamond stitching) Not a complaint, but am always looking for 'progress'. I thought the Carbon Atlas inlays looked better in the S7 than they did in my S5 (and I love them in the S5)

The exterior doesn't have too many cues that it's an S car, badging, quad pipes, a bit different nose. Thats all ok, though, as whats inside is what I'm excited about. 4.0T V8 with the S-tronic tranny and sport diff, should make this car an exciting car to drive. I don't neccessarily need any extra bulges on the hood, or big vents off the the front quarter panels to highlight what I'm driving.

And for long days on the highway, shutting down 4 cylinders to get what I'm guessing will be around 30mpg on highway - (if they are quoting 24 combined) - with a 20 gal tank, the highway range should be pretty good.

Indeed, my thought exactly. Having gone from S5 to A7, I miss the size of S5 though. Maybe with sport diff, the S7 will come alive!

There's no red seats for the U.S market.

But you can get beige, gray, black and brown.

Oh ok thanks. Would rather have just black seats anyways. But would some of you chose the panamera over the s7?

Went down that rabbit hole with the Panamera. So S7, performance wise, is best compared to the Panamera S (more specifically the 4s). I spent some time on the Porsche site building 4S's with options. It gets very discouraging very quickly. No sooner do you select electric seats, the 4s is seemingly over 105,000 (I exaggerate ever so slightly). I don't see how you can build a comparable Panamera 4s that isn't going to be 10-15k more than the S7 - or more depending on the technological doo-dads you add.

It (the Porsche) is definitely impressive to see on the road, but there's going to be a lot more exclusivity (less on the road) in the S7 than the Panamera, at a lower price point, and I think it will be a much more livable car. If you are getting the S7, I assume that the hatch is of some importance, and the boot space is gargantuan compared to the Panamera.

There's a whole lot of aggression in that new M5 that I imagine might be of consideration for the 90-100k sport sedan crowd. It looks good (real good), but the RWD (and quite frankly the badge) is a show stopper for me.

The s7 will be about 85k.

You're talking about 115k to get the same level of equipment for a 4s panamera.

Unless your in love with the panamera body shape, an s7 is far more car for the money. Only problem is getting s7s and panamera's are far more plentiful.

Ok I didn't realize the S7 would be priced in the 80s considering a fully loaded A7 hits the 80 mark. But am not talking base price. I don't think many people go without any options.

And I don't really care to much for which one has more trunk space. I've taken a look at the new M5 online and I just don't think I'm a BMW fan. Plus I have a feeling those will be everywhere in a year or 2.

Good perspective. After driving our A7 since June, I think I will replace my A8 sport packaged car, which has been exceptional, with the S7 rather than go to the S8, A8 with the 4.0 TFSI engine and sport package or Pan 4S or GTS. The Pan 4S and Pan GTS, comparably equipped to an S7 are easily in the $120-130 range. Love the GTS and alcantera interior and performance bits, but for $130,000 it is a bit much. The power output of the S7 4.0 TFSI will be roughly equivalent to the GTS, but given the turbo on the S7 the torque will be monstrous compared to the NA Porsche 4.0 NA engine tuned to 430 bhp for the GTS. No doubt that the GTS is a terrific automobile, but at the price differential not that much better as a daily driver.

I definitely agree 130k is just not worth it for the GTS. But it seems the BMW M5 will be priced right with the S7 so I think the M5 is the most bang for your buck if you like BMW. I'm interested in the S8 myself though, always been a fan of it and its rareness.

New M5 will definitely be popular and more edgy and powerful than the S7. Problem for me is that as well balanced and fun to drive as BMW's are (my most recent was an 06 650i convertible), they are RWD and in Boston I need Quattro for the winter as well as the handling in the wet year-round. Also, won't the RS7 be more comparable to the M5? It will be a monster with the twin turbo 4.0 and will quite probably beat the M5 dynamically. Given the very un-Audi like dynamic characteristics of our A7, the S and RS7's should have quite amazing handling and acceleration/braking. They are likely to do well in the aftermarket as well. Yes, the S8 will definitely be uncommon, but such a niche automobile could present problems for those who want to sell after a couple of years if for no other reason that there will be newish Panamera Turbos and maybe GTS's on the secondary market that might also have CPO coverage near the same price and to date Porsche's have tended to retain their value better than Audi's.

I'm sure the S8 will not hold its value well but you can wait for someone else to take the hit for you and pick up a nice CPO. To me its all about the car that I want not so much about the best value. I've though about the Pan turbos but thats not really what I want. I guess I'm just more of a underdog fan and not really into what's common. Are their any reports of an RS7 coming to the states?

No, I think the M5 is close to 100k. 10-15k above the S7.

RS7 to North America is really just speculation at this point.

I'd say it's a long shot at best, given how small the S7 allocation will be
