Hi I am thinking of 2006 Audi A6 4.2, it has 60K miles and the local VW dealer wants $20,995. went and test drove the car and it drove pretty good, it is the S-line version but no technology package. I currently now have a 2003 A8L that I love (although I would like a D3 Audi A8, but my D2 is a great car) I also have a 2000 A6 4.2 that I still love 128K miles with original trans (fluid has been changed twice) this car is in excellent condition and rides like a charm. I am wondering if I should replace my 2000 A6 with the 2006, I would probably have to buy an extended warranty which means this 2006 will end up costing me $24K-$25K is that too much? what version software on the MMI should I be looking for? I would want to add the ipod adapter to the car right away, both of my current Audi's have the GROM ipod adapter and I LOVE IT! I know for the 2006 the ipod adapter is a much different set up. Also I was thinking to get the car scanned (Vag com) to see what codes are in the computer. Don't know if I will get this or just keep my 2000 A6 the A6 3.2 is not a option if I get a A6 it has to be the 4.2...
your thoughts??

Whatever they quote you on an extended warranty offer them you'll pay half of that. Is $20,995 their asking price? The current MMI software for our cars is 4610.

I have the same car with the sports package, as well as had a 2000 and 2002. I love it. I would only replace it with an S6. It is the best car of its type that I have owned. I bought it with 35k and have 105k on it now. It runs as it did when new. I have an oil consumption issue, however, that Audi is looking into. Other than that, I could not recommend it more enthusiastically. Good luck.

How much do they want for the extended warranty are what are the terms of it?

I think they want $2500 for a 36K mile bumper to bumper warranty, I drove it for a second time today, it drives great and the 4.2 paired with the 6sp transmission is so strong and responsive!
Not sure what I will do

Here is what I'd offer if I were you. Add the #1,250 to their asking price and tell them they will have a done deal at that price. I have bought over 15 cars in the last 20 years (upgradeeitis too many times :). Obviously do whatever you are comfortable with as the true definition of a good deal is both parties are happy with the transaction. Good luck!
