During an oil change today on my 98QM, I noticed some green power steering fluid had leaked down onto the under-engine splash shield. The location was near the far right (passenger) side of the shield. It wasn't there last time I changed oil and I have had to a little bit of fluid a couple of times.
Anyone have experience with whether a leak at this location is likely to be just a loose clamp, steering rack problem, or ????
Thanks,
Dale

I really appreciate your help today with the ECU coding. It was great to learn how to do a quick and easy oil change on the 2.8 too. I think it is just excellent that the filter and drain plug are so convenient and close together.
For those who are curious, I am not sure if it is the Wett chip or the well broken in engine, but Dale's 2.8 has great pull and power. I have driven other 2.8 manual tranny A4s and they did not seem to have the surprising umph that his did. The RAM AIR filter may have had a little effect too, but I would suspect that would be at higher RPMs where the engine needs more "breath" v. the lower RPM punch that his engine has.
Now remember you need to add your WAZZU Cougar license plate to your modifications list. And you have a really low number on that. I saw one (more like fifty in this town, where are all the Huskies!) which had a 4000+ number. You must have ordered as soon as they were available.
Great time, thanks again Dale,
Kirk
99 A4 2.8Qtip with ECU coding, no UW Huskie plate :(, yet...

Check the steering rack boot. My fluid was down twice. The first time it was a loose clamp (supposedly). When it happened again, I found out it was going into the left steering rack boot. Solution, steering boot replaced 300 miles ago (at 14700). It hasn't leaked again (yet). I've heard of a others losing PS fluid as well. You may want to visit your dealer. Good Luck
98 28QM
