Canceled my A7 order today, and deferred to 2013 S7
As it turns out, I am the SECOND on their list! (Royal Oak Audi, in Calgary)
Sounds like they'll get 3 cars in the first Allocation, so hopefully i'll get one of the first ones off the boat
LONG WAIT Ahead of Me

Good luck, i'm going nuts on the 9th week of waiting for my a7, due to hit the port in 2 days.
One thing to consider, you may be surprised at the resale the a7 will have... my '11 a6 got a much better trade-in value at my dealer, and i got the "correct" discount on the a7.
The S7 will really be something else to drive.

I'd think the A7 initial resale will be fantastic. Seems like Audi can't make enough of them. Eventually everything depreciates though
Have a couple other cars, so I canceled my A7 and will make due until the S7 is delivered
I hope Stasis gets it to 510 HP

Most first look reviews of the s8 says 520hp. So I don't see why a tune wont be able to get the s7 to the same range or more. That is assuming that they have similar engines.
I'm tempted by the S7 as well but I already took delivery of my A7 last month.

I may be looking at the S7 as my next car after the R8... we'll see!
I like the RS5, but I want all the electronic goodies in the A7.

Why the downgrade (R8 --> S7)? Is it because the R8 is not that practical?

Actually, the R8 is a pretty good daily driver. But I'll probably want 4 doors again (I upgraded from an RS4), and I'll be interested in all the tech toys in the A7/S7. The R8 has electronics circa 2006... :P
The biggest problem I have with the R8 is I'm always so scared something will happen to it when parking it at places, and it gets a LOT of attention. I don't think I want that much attention, which is why I started buying Audis in the first place.
I'd rather have the RS5 over the S7, but only if the RS5 got the same electronics, which I don't think it did when they did the facelift.
At any rate, it's years before I have to figure something out. :)

Interesting viewpoint and one that often doesn't get fully considered. Everyone tends to focus on performance data and even the car mags when they do comparisons ONLY seem to focus on which car had the higher trap speed or performed better in the slalom. Fact is, you are going to interface with the technology in the car every minute that you are driving it, but how often are you experiencing the car's performance limits? Most of the time, for most of us, we're driving at 5/10ths or 6/10ths or at 1/10th stuck in traffic!
The RS5 is absolutely stunning and I'm sure a brilliant performer, but in no way can it compare to the electronic goodies the S7 will offer. For a daily driver, that would be my biggest concern. Not to mention the difference in comfort and practicality.
You tend not to care so much about the 2006 electronics in the R8 when you are flogging the crap out of it on a weekend or at the track, but as a DD, I suspect it would leave you wanting.
And, no, I don't drive like an old lady, it's just that for my commute, I'd favor sporty/luxury laden with tech goodies over the sportiness than something like an RS5 or even the R8 can provide.

Yeah, if I have an R8, parking would be a worrisome. I worry where I park my new S5. Even though it's not as flashy as an R8, it still gets a lot of looks. The S7 won't probably get as much attention as an R8 or an S5. Now, the RS5 will be more flashy than the S7, and will get more attention.
