Unfortunately for you and Colin, you wont be abe to get a NAV unit because they only came with the MMI and neither of your cars have it. MMI is the fiber optics data bus that Audi uses for their infotainment. Upgrading is pretty easy, mainly plug and play. For yours though, it has to be pre-wired from the factory. In the new A4 to have NAV you would have needed to upgrade to the MMI system anyway. Your best bet is to go after market. This would be cheaper in the long run anyway.
