View Full Version : Euro-Spec A8 Owners
Big Hank 07-31-2011, 04:22 PM Any european A8 owners care to let me know if your cars have the self closing trunk function via remote or door button?
It appears to be not set up on the US spec A8 ( or so my dealer says)
I have been in contact wit the folks at Vag-Com who tell me I should confirm in fact it does exist and if possible obtain an auto-scan from someone that has the ability.
It is listed in the owners manual.
If I can get it to function via Vag-Com, I will post the adaptation.
Thanks!
jetinder 07-31-2011, 06:39 PM I haven't done it myself, but Kufatech do a module that does the trick. It's been around for years on the old A8 and Q7 to do exactly this.
I was thinking of getting one (might do that now that you've reminded me!).

I'm not certain this is what you mean, but if I lift and hold the trunk release button on the driver door, my opened trunk will close itself.

Yes that is what I was looking to confirm. Are you in the US?

The U.S. spec A8s all have this capability. According to the owner's manual you need to switch the ignition on, and then pull and hold the trunk button in the driver's door until the lid closes completely. I've used this feature on occasion.
You can also use the convenience key, by pressing and holding the trunk lid button on the fob until the lid closes. Haven't tried this out yet though.

Mine does not work then. Will take to the dealer to have it looked at.

Had car at the dealer and they are saying that early production cars do not have this function. I am suspicious of this response and am tempted to call BS on them.
My car is a 2011 6XX production NWB. Is there anyone out there with an earlier production that does close the trunk from the door button?

Big Hank-
My car was built on Jan 31st and the trunk lid does close via the driver's door button---with the ignition in the ON position, or with the car running. My key fob button only raises the trunk lid, but does not close it.
Big Hank 09-13-2011, 01:13 PM Mine is a May 2010 build date.
I think I will try to contact AOA for a final verdict.
It is a pain to have to get out of the car to close the trunk at times.
jetinder 09-13-2011, 07:28 PM It's not there in the 2010 built cars as far as I know. Mine was assembled around April (finished in June due to shortage of parts).
I'll order the kufatech module today and see how it goes.
Big Hank 09-14-2011, 07:05 PM Heard back from AOA today. They confirmed that the early production models do not have this feature and there is no software fix to change it. I asked at what point did they change and the person did not know the exact date.
