I'm thinking of getting an A1, either directly from Audi or through ABT with some upgrades. Has anyone been though this process yet. Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

EH? unless you are a diplomat, you are NEVER going to be able to import an A1 unless you wait til the year 2035 when the 25 year import rules lets you. The only other way you can proceed in trying to get an A1 in the country is if YOU federalize the car with emissions, safety, and crash testing. This will easily cost you in the Millions of $$ to do. are you ready!? Frissen 12-05-2011, 03:15 PM you may buy one in Mexico and drive across the border, but from there to federalize it well :/ uberwgn 12-13-2011, 08:22 AM Has anyone imported an A1 from Germany to the US? Do you have the resources to manage the crash testing certification for the A1? What about the EPA work? You'll have to have very deep pockets to manage that, and that's just the tip of the iceberg ;) Jusforfun 12-22-2011, 07:23 AM Stick an A3 badge on it :) pacod 03-16-2012, 11:42 AM There must be some way around the 25 year rule as I've seen an A1 in the US either on forums or for sale online a few times. Also that RS4 Avant a while back, among others. So how do these cars get here?? I would love to know. All diplomats? ezveedub 03-16-2012, 04:23 PM There must be some way around the 25 year rule as I've seen an A1 in the US either on forums or for sale online a few times. They must leave after 2 years or be destroyed with documentation. A1 may come to the US soon. If so, it will be when they facelift the car AFAIK. kamnster 03-28-2012, 07:38 AM Nice post and We cover all things Audi - everything from model news to road tests to show coverage to motorsports to technical articles. Except for a handful of people, it is not worth it. jennysmith 05-20-2012, 09:50 PM There are lot of changed happened in Audi world. It's not an easy task to import a car from Germany. Many people try to import it but it takes lot of time and it is not at all worth. |
