(Just noticed this is my 2,000th post...and this one about my encounter with the newest Audi is very apropos for that "honor")

I was in my S6 and driving to the Monterey Peninsula from L.A. last Tuesday and found myself behind a white A7 with Michigan Manufacturer plates on the 405 Freeway. I ended up playing "tag" with it for about 90 miles until it exited in Santa Barbara.

Put me in the category of thinking it looked much better on the road than in the pictures I'd seen here and elsewhere. I'm not always a fan of white cars, but the white on this one was stunning. She looked sleek from the side and menacing in my rear view mirror. In fact, it looked low and wide from front and back like a sports car. And, quick? Yup. Left me in the dust a couple of times when he punched it to get around traffic, but it was cool to see the spoiler pop up as it accelerated.

How much did I like it? So much that I called the Sales Mgr. at Pacific Audi to tell him how good it looked and, kiddingly (sort of), what the numbers would look like on a lease!

I want to see the new A6 in action before getting too carried away as that $10k+ premium for the A7 may not be worth it. My only disappointment in the hour or so I followed him was that he never acknowledged my thumbs up when I pulled alongside a couple of times. In fact, a couple of A4s pulled in behind us at one point for a nice little Audi parade. I assume it was a marketing employee driving the A7, so thought he might be a bit more responsive to my gesture. All-in-all however, it was fun and cool to see the newest Audi in action.

I doubt an A6 will be 10k less money.

If I had to guess, probably more like 4500-5000.

I waited to see one in person before making my judgment as well. Pictures just don’t do it justice! I can’t wait to see one in white!

Saw one in white with a black roof at the chicago auto show. Looked stunning!
