We went throught the same dilema in 2009 when ordering our 2010.
We decided on Graphite as Daytona was too flat...looked like clay to us, and Lava was too black/blue as it changed in different lighting. Looked nice, but have owned black cars in the past and keeping them clean is frustrating.
mikemdd 04-13-2011, 03:17 PM I have the Lava, as well as two other black Audi's. I also thought the Lava was "dark" at first, but it turns out it is actually one of the best in hiding road grime. A search will show pictures of my TDI.

Here are a couple of our Graphite Gray. Love it.
arU4ic 04-13-2011, 10:16 PM The REAL problem is that pics don't work. Too much variation in cameras, lighting and even the monitor or laptop that you are viewing it on. I have Daytona grey, it especially does not translate well in a still image. Lava looks pretty dark in pics, grey too light and black, well is black. Go to the dealer and ask for their help with this, see what they have on the lot or get brochures.
KBLOVE 04-14-2011, 06:06 AM I agree with Mikemdd. At first I thought the Lava was going to be to black which I did not what again but the Lava turned out to hide the everyday road grime, dust and even not bad with salt during the winter. In pic's my Q always looks black it every shows its true colors. Personal I would not order a car if I could not see the color in person even if it is on another audi model.
SteelWarHorse3.0TDi 04-14-2011, 07:59 AM We have a lava grey and a phantom black.
Lava grey "wears better" - meaning paint scratches and micro swirls inevitably obtained on the motorway or by washing are far far less apparent on the lava gray. The Phatom looks great after its jusy been washed, mind.
arkbbq 04-14-2011, 09:37 AM All this is personal preference of course. Just received our 2011 graphite Q7, 333 hp prestige, and are pleased with the look. To me, graphite has a richer look, and Daytona a little bland. Black tends to mask subtle body contours. I saw the colors on several other Audi models, but never could see several different Q's lined up for comparison. But hey, it's a Q7, so whatever your choice, you'll have a great ride.

utmiken 04-16-2011, 07:53 PM Thanks for all the pictures posted and the links provided. I picked up a Graphite/Black 3.0T S-line Prestige on Thursday. Lava was too dark for me and the graphite definitely looks better in person.
GRNMACHINE 04-18-2011, 06:02 PM Lets see some pics, I have Lava but I do like the Graphite better. What I do like about the Lava is how it changes colors in different lights.

I'll try to get some up to hopefully represent Graphite well. I thought Lava looked awesome but got to dirty like black. Daytona was second on my list and some days I still regret not ordering it. So far i am very happy with graphite as it is not a common color on Audis seen down here in TX.
