Not bad, and I bit below what some were projecting.

Have they released prices for the options yet? If so, do you know that cost of the Inovation Package and the B&O stereo?

Design and Innovation Icon for Audi’s C and D Segments

The all-new Audi A7 is a design icon, with innovative technology to match its emotional styling. The A7 combines prestige, sportiness and functionality into a five-door coupe with four seats and a wide-opening tailgate. And with its pioneering concept and elegant design, the A7 establishes an emotional bond that is tremendously alluring to both new and existing Audi customers, and will bring even more attention to Audi’s C and D segment offerings.

In addition to the emotional design, the A7 has a stunning interior, powerful drivetrain, and industry leading driver-assistance innovation. The foundation of the A7 is its Aluminum-hybrid lightweight construction, with aluminum body panels and a steel frame, reducing weight and enhancing handling while saving fuel. The drivetrain of the A7 is a 3.0 liter, V6 supercharged engine, with 310hp. Mated to an 8-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission, and standard quattro all-wheel-drive, the A7 will be as thrilling to drive as it is to look at.

Continuing Audi’s leadership in MMI innovation, the A7 will have Audi’s all-new generation of MMI, including the MMI touch handwriting recognition system. The A7 will also have Audi Connect, a driver-oriented system which includes the industry-first Google Earth navigation system, as well as online Point Of Interest searches, Wikipedia Destination Information, weather information and real-time gas prices. Audi is bringing internet to the car in a way that enhances the driving experience.
The A7 will introduce Audi’s first Head Up Display with a high resolution full color display, as well as many innovative technologies which have recently been introduced in Audi’s flagship A8, such as full LED headlights, Night vision assistant, the active safety system Audi pre sense plus, and a stunning Bang & Olufsen Advanced Sound System. With the A7, Audi is bringing entirely new innovation not previously available in C segment vehicles.

While the A7 is a compelling product, it will also be a compelling value with standard equipment highlights including: quattro all-wheel-drive, 18” wheels with all-season tires, leather interior, Audi drive select, Bluetooth, SIRIUS satellite radio and Xenon plus headlights. And the available equipment such as Audi’s pre sense plus active safety system, Audi Connect, Bang & Olufsen Advanced Sound System, and full LED headlights place the A7 at the head of the class when it comes to innovation and luxury.

When first announced, they said 5 seat option. Hope for some of us they would have such a version for the US. A6 is boring

I am sorry you feel that way, after driving both, I assure you the A6 is far, very far from boring. A6 is more aggressive looking than the A7 in my opinion.

Thanks for all the great information. I picked up a catalog on Thursday, they had just come in.

I just got back from my European Delivery trip (new S4, see posts in European Delivery discussion for pics and notes). At Munich airport, in the courtyard between Terminal 2 and the shopping / train station, Audi has a display and showroom currently showcasing the A6. They also had a bunch of A6s and a few A7s parked there for Audi dealers flown in for training and intro to the new A6.The A6 look s a lot more alive and aggressive in person than in pictures. The rear end is boring, but the stance is very impressive. You would never mistake it for the c6 model in real life.

The A7 looks sleeker, more sophisticated and elegant. It has a beautiful line, and just looks right. It looks more expensive, like something very special, a step up from the A6. I saw a lot of A5 and S5 sportbacks I Europe, but hey look awkward from some angles, and look very chubby with the smaller wheels. They don’t have the magic of the A7.

Here are a few pics of a stunning A7 color combination I saw at the Geneva Auto show. It was too crowded to get an unobstructed shot of the exterior, but here is the maroon interior.

Thanks for the interior shots, especially the one showing the rear seating area as this gives me a good idea of the legroom. Also, the front seats appear to be very similar to those in my 2008 A8L which are excellent. I believe the ones shown in your photo are the "comfort" seats which I want to order in my next vehicle (which is looking more and more like it will be the A7).

I'll be at my local dealer in the morning to get my snows off so I'll get an update on their expected arrival date for their demos as well as any new information (literature, option listing, etc.).

Yes, I agree. The seats are very similar to the ones in the new A8 which Audi sent to our Munich hotel to drive us to the forum Ingolstadt. Very posh and comfortable.

I like the maroon leather, looks like it is an Audi exclusive item, since it is not shown in either the new US catalog I picked up on Thursday, or in the German catalog I picked up in Munich.

I heard that demos and sales start in May. Good luck, it's a terrific car. I'm planning to pick one up in 39 months...

A bit higher than I was expecting, given the equivalent A6 will be about $50K to start (in Europe the A7 is only ~$5K more). A $9K premium for the A7 may be a tough sell.

There is an interesting new color, Glacier White Metallic.

car is underpriced, in my opinion. The CLS is substantially more and the A7 blows it away.

To get the car optioned nicely with LED headlights and B&O you are looking at $75K... pretty pricey. The new CLS350 will start in the $60Ks.

jperryrocks

I think pricing is right where it should be.

I could care less about the innovation package for $5800 with heads up and night vision. Not a player on the $5900 B&0 either.

I'll take a Prestige with the 20 inch sport package and rock on. Only other thing I care about is the side assist.

That's more than enough gadgets for me.

People said the A8 was getting too expensive, but Audi can't seem to make them fast enough. And how many A8's do you see on dealers lots? The A7 will sell very well at the current pricing.

You can pay 70-75 grand for that montrosity of a 5 series GT BMW all loaded to the gills. The lower end CLS350 will not be as nice as the A7 and you'll have to pay 70k to get some decent options on it. And it's still rear wheel drive.

B6S4
03-22-2011, 05:06 PM
I too could care less about the heads up and night vision, but that's the only way to get the LED headlights it seems. Too bad as the A7 looks sinister with the LED headlights, but not so much with the xenons. The B&O is just a trick system with the moving tweeters and woofers, but too pricey for this car. Something in between the $850 system in the A4/5 and the A8 system would have been better.

We'll see how it does against the CLS350 soon, but traditionally Americans do not like hatchbacks, especially ones that cost $70K.

Full LED headlights are a $1400 stand alone option on Prestige cars.

You need not get the whole pricey innovation package.

Does anyone know if the Audi A7 will be getting the new active lane assist and heads up display with speed limit detection in the U.S? is it part of the side assist in the innovation package??

jperryrocks

Price seems again almost 1:1 conversion: the A7 3.0 starts there at 58K Euro's and A6 3.0 at 51K so almost 1:1 for US pricing in $.
But I wish they would sell the 2.8 FSI here which would make it $50K which would be bit more affordable (well for me at least:-).
The A6 will be offered with 2.0 TFSI FWD so price difference between A6 and A7 will grow further to over $15K. I also hope they'll add 5th seat in the future.

US Configurator is up for the A7. Just not seeing new brochure yet online. I wonder if brushes aluminium will be an option other than S line.

Yes but European prices include 19% VAT so taking that into account the price difference is more like 4600 euros between A6 and A7 3.0T. A6 pricing is not released in the US yet, but it looks like a bigger difference here.

Agree without German VAT it's about 5670 Euro's between A6 and A7 3.0 and that's currently about $8000. But difficult to compare since typically US models come loaded and Euro models don't.
I also would not be surprised if A6 US pricing will increase little bit especially when they introduce cheaper base entry model with smaller engine.

The bigger difference between the 2 will be because the A6 will be offered with smaller engines. I was hoping US will sell the A7 with 2.8 TFSI (-10K). You pay clearly a premium for the design since otherwise the A6 is not that different in content.

EPA MPG for A7 would be 18/28/22 mpg.

Actually the base A7 here is not that well equipped for a luxury car, for instance these are all extras:
- parking sensors
- rear view camera
- color LCD display between gauges
- satellite navigation
- 6-cd changer
- driver memory
- shift paddles
- LED headlights
- headlight washers
- premium sound system
- four zone climate control
- ventilated seats
- heated rear seats
- power tilt/telescoping steering column
- voice recognition

jperryrocks

The Premium Plus Package takes care of a lot of those extras, and would leave you about 64k total.

BMW and Mercedes are worse with options and pricing.

Audi has for quite often given you the most car for the money as compared to their German rivals.

I wont get into a $55,000 Mercedes Benz's coming standard with a pretty cheap assortment of materials. Mercedes and BMW want to charge you almost $1500 for the privledge of not sitting on vinyl seats for a lot of their cars.

The newer CLS might indeed be better. But the previous generation CLS was pretty darn cheap looking on the inside for an $80,000 car.

so I ordered a 2011 M3 Conv with individual interior with an msrp of almost 85K, two different cars but for 79K on the A7, I have all the tech + B&O sound system ?

A7 is a steal for the price. I was not interested in the A7 when I first saw it, but after doing a build your own on audi.com, with such great price and features it looks interesting. Will be stoping by the dealer once to check it out.
