Does anyone know factory rotor weight is on the 2008 v8 4.2? I thought that the brakes rotors were different between the engine variants.

Jusforfun 02-25-2011, 07:29 PM Its the same for all models except the V12 TDI zerophat 02-25-2011, 07:55 PM Was looking at replacement, lighter than stock, but don't know what to compare? docman_md 02-26-2011, 05:38 AM Mine just reached 30K miles. I replaced all four rotors with StopTech Slotted (http://shop.achtuning.com/StopTech-126-33090-91-SportStop-Slotted-Front-Brake-Rotors-Audi-Q7.aspx) and pads with Carbotech Bobcat. Better grip, no squeal, and no dust. Highly recommend this to anyone considering/needing to change rotors and pads. GRNMACHINE 02-26-2011, 06:49 AM docman, Do u know where the rotors/pads were manufactured? docman_md 02-26-2011, 08:21 AM StopTech is based in California and they do manufactured from there. They produce several of the big brake kits for Audi. Check their website (www.stoptech.com) CarboTech is based in North Carolina. They also manufacture from there. I was weighing on Hawk LTS pads but the tuning shop here in Maryland recommended Carbotech Bobcat series. www.ctbrakes.com I love this set up so much i am thinking about doing the same for my A4. Jusforfun 02-26-2011, 11:51 AM and they look so cool http://shop.achtuning.com/ProductImages/images/product_images_stoptech/Stoptech_Stage_2_A.jpg zerophat 02-28-2011, 02:33 PM So, lighter, same, heavier than the stock rotors? Reggie 02-28-2011, 04:32 PM So, lighter, same, heavier than the stock rotors? Just so you understand. Reducing the weight gives you better unsprung weight which helps handling but in a car the size of the Q7 you loose the ability to absorb heat in braking - going to a lighter disc can impact heavy use of the brakes in mountains and hard driving unless one makes up for it with a bigger diameter rotor and better pads. GRNMACHINE 02-28-2011, 05:43 PM Danke Schoen docman! They look like high quality, havent heard of them before. Some of the companies out there are Made in China like Centric etc. I believe the Cross Drilled Brembo's I have on my other SUV were made in Mexico... Added the sites to my favorite lists for future need. Also like the fact a tuning specialist recommended them. |
