View Full Version : Bosch A297S Sources Update (forked from "Dear Audi, your wipers suck")

OK, let's try and compile where B8 A4 owners can get the Euro-only Bosch A297S Aerotwins which, in my experience through several snow storms and temps down to 0 degrees F, work really, really well. Much, much better than the sucky blades Audi puts on our A4's that become useless in snowy/icy/freezing wet driving conditions.

Bosch lists these as the Aerotwin A297S. You get two in the package - one for the driver side and one for the passenger. So you only need to order 1 x A297S set. I believe the Bosch part number for the A297S is 3397007297 so you should be able to find them that way (someone should double check this).

Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Bosch-3397007297-Aerotwin-Equipment-Replacement/dp/B002ZLHWJO/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1295973143&sr=8-5

RockAuto: http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php?catalog=23&partnum=3397007297&a=FR23-3397007297-76846

let's try and keep this thread limited to sources and put experiences over in the original thread. thanks!

Are they an easy snap in replacement like the OEM blades?

Yes. Same fitting.

The Amazon web site says they do NOT fit 2011 A4. Nor do they fit the 2010, but they DO fit the 2009. Since all these models are B8, are they wrong? Or did Audi change the fittings for 2010 and 2011?

According to Bosch's cut sheet for their wipers (downloadable from their Europe website), they list these for B8's from 11.07 forward.

I believe someone in the original thread put them on their 2010 if you go look for that post.

Bosch Service Center Network: http://www.boschservice.com/FindSvcCenter

This isn't how I found out where to get the blades, but it yields the same result for me. The closest Bosch Service Center to me is where I ordered and picked up the blades. Thought I'd post this in case there are more wiper blades floating around the Bosch Network than in those places taking orders online.

I have them on my 2010. They fit in just like the OEM ones. No hassles.

There is no stock at Amazon right now but pre-order page is back up. I placed an order, hopefully it wouldn't take too long.

Thanks, I ordered a set (at least I "back-ordered" a set) from Amazon.

The OEM windshield blades are very bad in the winter as has been repeatedly listed in this forum. One way that I have had some success to solve this problem was to purchase the more expensive windshield washer fluid. This is the fluid that is good to -30F. When the car is warmed up and the heated nozzles are working at their peek temperature, this combination seems to keep the wipers from freezing over and dragging blocks of ice across the windshield.

Pretty cold here in Colorado today. The new blades did ok. Ice still formed on the wipers but not as bad as the OEMs.

Big ice storm in Indiana yesterday and today. New blades worked perfectly. They started to ice up at first, but once the car got warm they were awesome.

Thanks to who ever discovered these wipers!

I used the Valeo wipers from Amazon and they were a perfect match from OEM.

I found this place and the price looks good but they are listed as an OEM replacement. It doesn't say anything about being better in the winter. So what is the difference? http://www.autopartglobal.com/replacement-parts/windshield-wipers-washers/bosch-3397007297-aerotwin-original-equipment-replacement-wiper-blade-set-of-2

I realize they are the same that have been listed, but are they different then what come on the car? As I read the ad it states that they are OEM replacement which tells me they wouldn't be any better. What makes them different (better)? Thanks,

Yes, they are different from what came on the car. A little bit stiffer, the upper spoiler or whatever that's called is a little taller and firmer and they don't have those little plastic brackets that hold that spoiler in place.
I haven't had a chance to use them in a snow storm yet and they look too much like the original ones so I'm not sure how much better they will be.

The reported problem with the original blade is that the backside of the "spoiler" makes a groove that is facing upwards and collects snow and water that freezes and the the blade get stiff. This groove is less deep on the Bosch version.

I think that the OEM in this case is that these may be stock for European Audi's but not US.

These have a better design that has less opportunity for water to freeze on the *top* edge of the blade, making it rigid and useless.

So far these are working much better than the US OEM ones through this snowgasmic winter here in Boston.

Guys, FWIW, Valeo now has a blade available for these cars. I think it's a bit more $$$ compared to the Bosch A297S.

Anyone found a source in Canada?

I am in Canada and ordered from RockAuto.

$30.00 for shipping, but the wipers were only $27.00 or something close to that. I ordered two sets and it cost me $90.00 canadian. Still less than two sets of the OEM from the dealer...

They took two days to deliver, but when I ordered them last month, I took their last two pairs...

When I first saw this thread, about a week ago, I checked Amazon. They said "ships in 3 to 5 weeks". Not wanting to hassle looking elsewhere, and liking the free delivery from Amazon, I ordered them. I figured they'd arrive just after the last snowstorm of the season :). Friday, I got an email from Amazon saying they'd shipped, and this morning UPS says they're out for delivery. Go figure.

Bought 2 sets ... change the wiper pair once a year to keep them in top condition.
