View Full Version : Sprintblue with back/white alcantara-good?bad?ugly?
walla2 01-12-2011, 11:50 AM Have been looking and test driving for a while (even a 6-speed in Portland last week) and want a sprint blue and much prefer the lighter alcantara interior instead of all black BUT-does it LOOK well together?
I was really pleased with the 6-speed which is what I would be getting, and I have taken and passed (but barely) the Audi world financial advisory rating system so it would seem that I cmight be able to afford it.
So- any thoughts about the colors would be appreciated. Thanks

I think that a sprint blue with black/silver alcantara is a beautiful thing, but that's subjective. I find it hard for black/silver alcantara to not look good all the time.
nal13 01-12-2011, 11:56 AM Fantastic color combo. Someone several months ago had one on this forum and it looked great.
rfogleman 01-12-2011, 12:01 PM I think it would look great.
Gear Junky 01-12-2011, 12:07 PM I've only seen this colour match in black/white leather and it looks really well but what you are after might be very difficult to keep looking it's best, anyone I have spoke to say Alcantara gets dirt very easily in the white.
Worth considering and asking others before making the jump.
MonzaAvant 01-12-2011, 12:11 PM I'd go with black and pass on the Panda interior.
questionlp 01-12-2011, 12:57 PM It may not be an S4, but I have a Sprint Blue S5 with the Black/Silver Alcantara seats. I chose them for the same reason: an all black interior looked too dark.

I wouldn't change the interior if I had to do it all over again.

Do you have any problems keeping them clean, I heard wearing jeans are a real problem.

I don't have a real problem keeping it clean, as a damp microfiber cloth takes care of the usual stuff. I don't wear jeans and rarely have passengers with me, so I can't really speak on that.
Granted, others have reported issues with jeans and stains, but I don't know if there is a viable remedy or cleaning regiment others have tried.
I can't remember the seat options for the S4, but an option would be to pay for the light-colored Nappa Leather seats. They don't provide the same grip as the Alcantara inserts provide, which can be a touch annoying, but it would provide a good amount of contrast to the primarily dark interior.

I think if you wear raw denim jeans then you will have a problem with the blue transferring on to the seat. It happens all the time, even smooth leather. Raw denim will transfer to sneakers, messenger bags as they rub against jeans, etc.
This entire topic is subjective, but here goes...
I have the Sprint Blue w/ the panda interior, and I think it's absolutely gorgeous. It's a darker grey with a richer look than pictures would have you believe, and the interior/exterior complement each other well. The alcantara has a great feel to it, much better than leather. I've worn jeans in mine quite a bit, and there is no discoloration on the seats at all.
In short, I would have paid the $1k for panda alcantara if black leather was standard.

Totally agree. Would have also paid a premium for the panda alcantara if it wasn't a standard feature.
LeoR604 01-12-2011, 06:03 PM Blue with black/silver is nice. However, there is an S4 for sale up here (Canada) - blue with black/brown interior. Blue and brown????? Sorry, but that color combo makes me wretch.
(apologies if any forum members that may have that combo - to each his own, live and let live, no accounting for taste, love is blind, etc., etc.)
rktskicar 01-12-2011, 06:20 PM by walla2 I would assume you mean walla walla. will be there next month. I have a Sprint Blue with the Black Nappa seats. I think it looks very nice, but exterior amd interior colors are a personal thing, pick out what "you" like. It is your car after all.

seinsmeld13 01-13-2011, 08:23 PM It was a tough choice but I settled on alcantara seats. I now love them. Way more comfortable than the leather in my TT. Cool in the summer and warm in winter. Everybody who sits or rides in my car comments on the seats. As far as colour goes, I like your choice. I say go for it.
xxShadowxx 01-13-2011, 10:37 PM I think it looks good as well - I actually considered that color combo, but I've had too many blue cars lately so I went another route.
Anyone tried scotch-guarding the alcantara? Wasn't sure if that is an option or not..

Yes, I treated mine as soon as I got it home. I was careful to use towels to cover the leather as to keep the Scotch Guard off it. I also have a secure garage which I kept the roof and all windows down all night to let ot dry well and not suffocate me with fumes the next day when I drove. They look as new as when I took delivery.
DrVolkl 01-17-2011, 06:28 AM I'd go for it... I would have ordered my S4 with the silver if I had actually ordered my car.
I think two tone interiors are sporty looking.... not that there's anything wrong with solid black either.
Silver? Maybe it's just the way the camera captured the color, but I'd have to stretch my imagination to even call that gray. Seems more like an off white.
When viewed with the naked eye, would you say the color is much more toward the gray end of the spectrum?
If anyone has an ice silver or quartz gray exterior with the black/silver alcantara interior, I'd love to see photos of those.
questionlp 01-17-2011, 07:42 AM According to the pictures posted in http://forums.audiworld.com/showthread.php?t=2773930, it is an off white/egg shell color (same as in the S5) and looks quite nice against Quartz Gray.
Here's the pic from the S4 product brochure:
http://forums.audiworld.com/album.php?albumid=163008&pictureid=228541
which definitely looks less white, and maybe a little toward the grayish-beige end of the spectrum
