I really like the looks, size, and options available for this vehicle as I'm going to move out of my 2008 A8L into a slightly smaller vehicle. I'm interested in seeing what the new A6 will be but the A7 is different and very appealing. My local dealer has placed their order for 2 allocated A7's for forecast delivery of May. I'm seriously considering ordering one---however, at this time there are 8 limited "launch variants" to choose from so some options are only packaged with certain interior colors. Still studying what can really be ordered and what might be worth waiting for when the full option list is selectable. No pricing available yet but the launch variants are grouped in 3 price ranges with the base variant probably at the anticipated MSRP of $60K, the second group at $3K to $10K more, then the third group at another $6K to $13K more than the second group. In other words, a fully loaded A7 is likely to top $83K MSRP. derfA8L 11-23-2010, 03:06 PM Yup, here's the material containing the 8 ordering variants. You kinda get stuck with 20-inch Summer tires to get all the goodies. You're right, waiting for the order guide to come out is the way to go if waiting another 3-months works for you. sambuca 57 11-23-2010, 08:25 PM Yup, here's the material containing the 8 ordering variants. Guys, thanks for this info. I've been scouring the web for launch date and pricing info on the A7. In early October I ordered an S4, not realizing that the A7 was launching so soon. My order is for European Delivery in March (to coincide with the Geneva Salon) and I suspect that the timing may well work for an A7 if the launch date is in May. I pulled the trigger on the S4 after waiting a couple years hoping that the S5 Sportback or S4 Avant would become available Stateside. The A7 is a tad too big, but otherwise my kind of car: practical and very crisp and distinctive. I'll call my dealer tomorrow to find out what it would take to switch my ED order from the S4 to an A7. derfA8L 11-24-2010, 10:19 AM Guys, thanks for this info. Let us know how things work out, and which variant you select. bertaka 11-30-2010, 11:52 PM Personally, I was hoping to see the A7 in a lighter color like silver that shows off the curvaceous shape. Dark colors are sleek, but in my opinion they only serve to either shrink a larger car or hide its lines. At least the spokesperson let my wife and I sit inside and check out the interior - it's incredibly well done. I'd definitely wait until the layered oak inlay is available. In case you're interested, here's the U.K. Order Guide (http://www.audi.co.uk/content/dam/audi/production/PDF/PriceAndSpecGuides/a7-sportback.pdf). Kris Hansen 12-03-2010, 11:59 AM Dang, if I had known you were going, I'd have asked you to be the AudiWorld correspondent.. I couldn't make it this year.. sambuca 57 12-12-2010, 05:04 PM I agree, the lighter colors really set off the lines of the car. I think a medium blue, like Porsche ice blue metallic (standard on the 911 Turbo S) would look very good. The UK guide bertaka posted includes a moonlight blue metallic but I haven’t found any pics of that color yet. I spoke with my dealer, and he confirmed that they will receive an allocation of two cars (one ibis white, one phantom black) sometime in the spring. They have the launch variant info, but no dates or pricing yet. They are in the middle of the A8 launch right now, and don’t expect much more A7 activity for a couple months. Based on that, and on the fact that the launch variants include some options I would not want to pay for (side assist), but exclude one must-have option (layered oak wood trim), I have decided to stick with my B8 S4 order, and come back to the A7 in 3 years. I’ll post on the B8 S4 discussion and the European Delivery discussion, and follow new developments on the A7. |
