Got call from my dealer my new A8L goes into production next week!

So for those of you in the know, how long does the car stay in production and how long until it would normally ship from Germany? Is an October delivery reasonable or more likely November?

It took over 6 weeks for mine to go from painted to leaving the factory. But they did have to wait for redesigned parts to be - I guess you'd say "designed" and then built!

Hopefully those kinks have been ironed out. Manufacture will take about 10 days + testing. It took about 10 days for it then to be delivered to the dealer in the UK - even though it was at the docks in northern Germany the day after it finished the QA checks. It missed the boat by a few hours, so had to wait another week to catch the next one.

I guess shipment is much much longer to the US :-(

It all depends on how long it sits at the port waiting to fill up the ship for transit---could be very fast, or the car could sit sit a couple of weeks. Once it arrives here, it could again sit at the port of entry for a while if AoA hasn't officially released A8 pricing to dealers for invoicing ---but pricing will probably be released within the next week or so, so it shouldn't be a problem for you. If all goes smoothly, my guess would be delivery by mid to late October---Again, unless AoA holds the cars at POE until official launch date.
