I just ordered my A5 today. I'm bored and impatient for it to get here (I know, I know). Thus, this poll...

Three months and one day from the order date to delivery date...

3.5 months. Ordered 1st week of May and
arrived 3rd week of Aug.

I'm a month into my wait and dementia is setting in. I've watched every S5 video on youtube 5 times already. I may not survive this.

Order placed late April, got a commission number the first week of May and my S5 arrived mid-August. A couple of factors lead to an official pick up date of August 27th.

I passed some of the time by watching YouTube videos, racing an S5 in Forza Motorsport and listening a lot of music to get my mind off of the wait.

placed order around sept 25 and it arrived Dec. 10 of last year. They had a car allocated to change. that's the first hurdle.

Ordered May 1st, estimated delivery was Oct 4th, but just learned the delivery estimate is now Sept 20th (first time it moved up!).

ordered mine and almost 7 months later vehicle arrived, at some point in time I even forgot I ordered any car

I ordered mine on May 29th, as of today I am still waiting for a production date :(

They had a car allocated to change. that's the first hurdle.

Do you know how the allocations work? I've been trying to read up on it, but I've found little info and some of it is conflicting. What is the time period for allocations? E.g. does a dealership just get an allocation of X units of model Y at the beginning of the model year and if they use them all up in the first two months it's over with? Or is it X per month/quarter/something else? Does the dealership know in advance exactly what allocations they're going to get when?

I assume that must be for a dealer transfer, not an actual custom order? I don't see any way an order could get done that fast...

yes that is correct, its already there. I don't need anything other than it being black, has bluetooth, manual.

Yeah, I'm pretty happy with the deal.

I've been told it's arriving the 2nd or 3rd week of Oct....
I got my VIN # last week and was told it was on the boat "Van Der Graf".

Have you received any details?

I've been told mine "has been released for production" and that the estimated arrival at the dealership is mid-December. I don't have any more specific dates or information than that, but at least it's progress...

Man, I placed my order for a 2011 S5 coupe on Monday...I have had at least one dream about the car every night. There's no way I'm gonna make it to December/January...

My car is on the ship and it just left Bremerhaven this morning. they are telling me arrival by 10/25. Your car might be on the same ship. Ask your dealer - they should be able to tell you. My car is on the Volans Leader which is scheduled to arrive in San Diego by 10/25.

I order my car from Mission Viejo in mid June. It was released for production on August 6 and was loaded at the port on September 19. Based upon that information, and trying to scour the internet, I believe it is on the ship Glorious Express, which is due to dock in San Diego on October 14. I am hoping to have it by the 25th, but who knows. Does that sound reasonable?

I moved to the OC from the midwest about 2 years ago. I ordered an A8 back in 2005 and it only took like 2 weeks to get the car from when it was shipped. I never thought the trip to CA would be that much longer!

I have given up watching the videos and have just learned to live with the angst. I told my 4 year old it would be here soon. So everyday he asks me if my Audi is here yet. Makes me feel better that he is the one asking and not me. At least I am not driving my wife crazy... he is.

This morning, I e-mailed my dealership about whether or not a build/production week had been assigned for my S5, and here's what he said:

"Build weeks can differ due to options, colors, and transmission selections. At this point, the only information is that your order is currently in "pullable" status. This means that Audi can pull and schedule your order anytime. We'll keep you updated....."

Pullable? Man...what is that, purgatory? :confused:

Just please tell me they use the Panama Canal and do not go around Cape Horn!

Me too, but mine are more like nightmares. I dream the car shows up after 4 months and they screwed up the order somehow. Every night the dream is the exact same. The only thing that changes is what part of the car they f'ed up. Last night they built it with the wrong transmission.

Dec 6 is my estimated delivery date. Brutal.

Audi ships cars to the west coast by boat? I thought they unloaded in texas or new mexico and then truck those in, it would be much cheaper.

I was able to get one that had already been built with the specs that I wanted (a couple of extras, but that was ok)...so I am getting mine in less than 1 month (or I hope to be :) )

When I ordered my car on Aug 6th, it was already in the pipeline for production, which took place on Aug 10th. It arrived in the POE for Los Angeles on or around Sep 29th. It arrived at the dealer the evening of Oct 4th, and was available for delivery the next day. I personally was not available for delivery on that date. The dealer delivered it to our home October 7th. So, was it worth waiting for??? YESSSS!!!!!!!

Once you get in you can review the status of all cars as they are unloaded. It will give you an idea of when the car is release and on the truck to your dealer.

I don't think it updates in real time. I think they do periodic downloads so it sometimes takes a day for the day to refresh.

Well, we will see. I negotiated a fixed price over invoice and they just sent me the invoice which had all the advertising BS on it and everything. Almost a grand in that stuff. Not sure what I should say and/or do. Anyone with experience with that? Is it true invoice or is that BS.

Of course, we had the mother of all thunderstorms here in SoCal (I am from the midwest and this was nothing, but the locals were going crazy) so I couldn't drive it on the street or really get it outside.

The dealership was great and honored my pricing and even gave me the $500 off on the "instant savings" card that I had mailed to me last march (before I ordered the car. These guys really were great to deal with. Will post some pics when I get the car.

Dang it, that's when I ordered my S5 and I'm not due to get until some time in December. Ugh.

I have to admit, I didn't even try to get them to remove it. It was on the invoice, and BS or not, I figured they could argue it all day long. What was I going to do, walk away? My leverage was not that great. However, I did have a $500 Audi gift card that I received from them that I threw down at literally the last minute (I was writing the check and said, hey, this is $500 gift card I would like to use. They didn't even flinch, so who knows.

That being said, there was no doc fee or other crap, so I figure it all works out in the end. I was just happy to get my car.

Just received that wonderful call from the dealer. My S5 is ready for pickup. I'll be heading down to Mission Viejo first thing tomorrow morning. The long wait is over.

I purchased it on 10/2 (it was already built and en route to another dealer), so it was one month from purchase to delivery. God tomorrow is going to be a looooooooonnnngggg day at work.

I ordered my '11 S5(black/black-alcantara, prestige, titanium, carbon fiber, drive select) 2 weeks ago,,,I was told that it would take 3-4 months by the dealership. From the poll seems like that is about the right amount of time to wait. Hopefully it wont take any longer....In the mean time im rolling in an '09 M3,,,Should make winter driving interesting im sure.

Ordered mine on May 29th.. picked it up on November 6th. I know it took quite a bit longer than it should have but so far I think it was worth the wait. The car is absolutely beautiful inside and out. The sound of the engine is unreal, although I am going to add pipes for sure because the exhaust is just to quiet.

Did any of you have a problem with your brakes making an awful screeching sound when you first got them? It happens on and off on mine and it is only when I am going slow?

I started this thread on September 1. Last I heard (a week or two ago), my ETA was December 20th. I hope it actually makes it on time...

Of course, by having me wait almost four months, they've given me ample time to second guess my decision and think about the many other nice cars I could buy instead. I'm already kind of regretting ordering an A5 instead of an S5, but I don't think I have it in me to wait all over again...

Update: my car is scheduled to arrive at the port in Brunswick, GA on December 13, a full 3 weeks ahead of the original estimate I received 6 weeks ago...I hope this means good news for my fellow anxious nailbiters!

mrknicks, I ordered my S5 with Titanium Package on 10/24. I'm supposed to get my ETA from my dealer in the next 3-10 days. He is guessing mid to late February for my arrival date. I guess S5s may take longer perhaps.
Currently driving a 2009 BMW M3 DCT (not a good car for Maine Winters!)

So, I threw a wrench in the works on my A5 order. I made the mistake of driving an S5 back to back with the A5, and I decided I had to have an S5. So my ordered A5 will go to some other lucky person. Seriously, I have great taste, so they are truly lucky ;-) If you're in the market for a Deep Sea Blue Prestige A5 Cab, let me know and I'll put you in touch with the right people.

Now I'm in the process of trying to track down an S5 with the specs I want without having to go through the whole 4 month order wait again. If it comes down to that, I think I'll actually just wait until spring and order a 2012 model. I have some leads on S5s, though, so wish me luck...

It can of course also rely on an already available build slot allocated to your dealer. I ordered an A5 last week, Dec 15th, and have been advised that the system indicates 21 Feb-15 March delivery (90 days or less). We shall see ...

My saleswoman emailed me 2 weeks ago and said my car is expected to be in the second week in Feb. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I think my dealer must have been reading my post. The next day Christmas came early... he called and told me my car was built and being loaded on the boat. Gave me the VIN and said it should arrive on 7 Jan, I could pick it up right after that. Looks like I'll be starting the new year right for sure! lol:)

I ordered my A5 in mid-October and the dealer told me it wouldnt arrive until the new year. Surprisingly the car arrived a week before Christmas. It was defintely the best gift I could get!

Yes, it is only avail on the S5. But I took the custom paint color route.

My original color choice was "Panther Black". However a few weeks after placing my order, the dealer called and and said they couldn't do the color, no explanation other than saying the Audi paint shop couldn't do it. Which I couldn't understand since its a fairly new Audi color. Anyway, after some persistent conversation with him, I got the "Pearl" at a discounted custom color cost as a consolation. I'll have the only 2011 A5 with Phantom Blk Pearl (in the US anyway...so far). The Panther would have been better, but I'm happy with the Pearl.

Coolbreez, we need to link up after my toy arrives. I'd really like to see your Brilliant Black next to my Phantom Black. Since both our cars are of the same breed (specs) and only a few weeks apart (birthday wise...lol) would be cool to see.

Seems like my car is on the same boat as yours... car is built and they have a VIN but they couldn't tell me if it was on a boat or what not. And they gave me a Jan. 10th date.

The dealer didnt tell me my port (i'm gonna ask to be sure), but I think my car is arriving in Davisville. The ship (Pegasus Highway) arrives there on 06Jan...the Pegasus fits the dealer's timeline better. For your given date, I think the Dec-30th ship fits your timeline.

Dignity Ace said Baltimore as destination and on arrival date of Jan 02 and vwl_hb.pdf said Brunswick arrival date of Jan 05. Seems legit. I keep tracking in hopes of making it arrive faster lol

Me too Envy! My Car arrived in the port of Brunswick on 12/24 and was released to the trucking company on 12/29. I only live in Atlanta which is like 5 hours away! It's driving me crazy knowing how close it is now! Hopefully I'll have it before the end of the weekend. :cool:

Go to http://ports.com/sea-route/ and plug in your start port and end port and click calculate and it will tell you how long it takes and what route it (your vessel) takes.

Adjust knots according to your boats avg. speed. I WANT MY CAR NOW!!!!!!!

Picking up my car today after work. Took it 98 days from the date I placed my deposit. Not too bad. I think I lucked out because my dealer took a car he already had allocated and just changed it to fit my order.

Too bad today will now be a useless day for work. :cool:

Umm awesome news this morning. Car was HERE and I PICKED IT UP TODAY!!!!!! well... yesterday.. the 3rd, Jan. I am soooo happy and OMG the waittt was SOOO worth it.

I am more than happy with the car. And am pleased with everything i got in it. The best part is turning the car ON. But then every part is the best.

Time to order my radar.

...on picking up your car. This is my first audi...been a lifetime BMW owner, but this car is such a smoother ride and in my opnion tighter on the turns than any 3 series. I pushed it to just over 85 on the highway and it dominated the curves. Not only that, but its an eye catcher and no one near me has my specs. Enjoy...

Ordered my S5 on October 7, received it on January 4. Little less than three months. I changed my order part way through, and I think that may have delayed it a bit.

Ordered our S5 cab on October 15th and we're still waiting. Dealer now saying it will be mid-February.

Question - what port do they ship out of? I know ours will go into Davisville, RI. Any idea how long that sea voyage is?

Just placed my order on Jan 15. Hope it makes it here within three months. It'd be a great tax day present :D

I ordered my A5 on November 21st and was told by my saleswoman that I should expect it to arrive the week of Feb 7th which was just under 3 months.
I got an email yesterday that said "call me". Figuring the worst, I was guessing that there was a delay. Much to my surprise, she told me my car was in!! It took just over 2 months.
I'm planning to pick it up on Monday as I will be out of town Friday and Saturday. These will be 3 long days!!

I think the A5 and S5 will be much quicker.

The best thing to do is to ask your dealer/salesperson for the ETA schedule sheet.

They should be able to provide one for you.

Once you get it and see the ETA date, subtract a week or two from it for the "real" date.

For P & P, I asked my dealer if they could do it within 24 hours.

They did that for me.

If you really want it quicker, you can ask your dealer about the P & P.

Okay, finally got my Audi A5 Cab.

Ordered on Feb 18th. Got the car on May 3rd. So all-in-all, 2-and-a-half months. I must say, the last 2 weeks were excruciating!!

BTW, LOVE THE CAR...

I ordered my RS5 in December and according to my dealership, I should be able to pick it up the first week of June.

Ordered Jan 29, arrived April 29.

I ordered my RS5 the last week in Feb, went into production March 28, in transit from factory on April 15, loaded on the Paradise Ace in Emden on April 29. The Paradise Ace is due into Brunswick on May 10th, then Houston on May 14th. Where my car will be unloaded and directly trucked here (Illinois )... I should have it within two weeks, and getting pretty excited . Will be just shy of 3 months for the whole process
