cough cough cough!!!

My RS4 is running like crap, it even has a hard time starting some days. I've been through the regular dealer BS about adding "cleaning" addatives to the fuel; I'm on my third bottle and a $350 "cleaning-service" fee from my dealer.

Has anyone had any luck with any other addative?

Knowing the dealers in my area, they are going to charge me thousands $$$ for manually claning the valves.....

Ask around on your local forum as to the better dealer - or aftermarket Audi place. The postings I have seen show the dealers will not do the cleaning unless a code is thrown.

What cleaners have you used??????

Not that cleaners will matter - we all know that the cleaners do not get sprayed on the valves anymore with direct injections

I've been using the cleaning solvant provided by the dealership. Virtually no change. I'm at 35K miles and I can only imagine how this poorly this FSI engingine will run at 50K? Perhaps I will suck it up and soak the valves/top when I put on the supecharger.

Cheers!

why do you assume deposits?
others have and only missed the real cause
vacuum leak, bad flap actuators, fuel pump sensor, etc.
some set codes, some don't

mine has 37k miles and I was just noticing how well it runs...

smooth at start-up, hot or cold
if cold, bumps to 1200 for a few seconds, then drops to 1000 and settles at 800
no hesitation, roughness, etc.

really surprising for a high compression engine 12.5:1, usually rough until hot...

will pull smoothly from 1200 rpm in 6th until I have to let off...
avg mpg close to 20...

running in 3rd at 6500 rpm steady 80 mph or so, car is smooth, sonorous
no misfire, hesitation, etc., just squeeze and it shoots to redline...

As I'm shopping for a CPO RS4, this issue makes me nervous. What should I look for when test driving? What questions should I be asking the dealer?
