My current ride is a 2010 Q5 prestige. It handles very similar to my A6. I downgraded/downsized from my '08 Q7, just too large and more of a truck for me.
I just placed an order for '11 A8, chose Beige (Impala metallic) with Nougat Beige interior. Went for the cold weather, convenience and premium package, night vision and full LED headlights. Hope I made the right choice in building the car. I really don't like lane assist or adaptive cruise control. I could not order side assist by itself.

I'm sure you won't regret it - gorgeous car.
Did they have pricing available yet?
PS. where in northern NJ are you? I grew up in waldwick.

Took the plunge without a price list, just loved the car!

Congrats! The only other "must haves" that I'd consider ordering are Leather Package 1 which includes leather wrapped center console, door armrests, and airbag cap (optional on NWB), and also the dual pane acoustic glass (option on NWB & LWB).
Again, congrats.

Since US pricing for the 2011 A8 is not available. I thought you would like to see a picture of the window sticker for a NWB A8 showing the MSRP of some of the options of the launch vehicle.

I couldn't agree more, I couldn't have the car without leather 1. It really makes the car inside. It can still be changed up until it's close to build week though. I tried to add rear assist too late unfortunately.

After I saw the car in person, I went to the sales manager and changed my order to include the leather package. Since the car is not yet in production, I was able to add without a problem. So my car is now configured as:
Savanna Beige, Nougat Brown interior
Cold Weather Package
Premium Package
Convenience Package
Leather Package
Full LED Headlights
Night Vision Assistant
Pricing is not available yet, but based on the launch vehicle, this should be around $90K.

Good call on the leather package, but I'd also consider the Dual pane glass (acoustic and break-resistant)---retailed for $600 in 2010, and it does help soundproof the car's interior a bit more, and also helps insulate against cold/heat.

I also went back to my dealer yesterday to add the leather. They had their 2011 Demo which was configured the same as the one posted here. I really didn't like the Nougat Brown as much in person so I changed to Beige interior. I think it will look good with the Black exterior.
The car did drive very nicely, more pick up than my '09 which was surprising, the new motor only makes a few more HP, maybe the new tranny helps acceleration.
They didn't have any information regarding the Google Maps feature other than it wasn't on the demo, does anyone here know the status?
The dealer also said that I am the only order so far, I would have thought that they would have more by now.

Do you remember what the EPA was on this car?

I think the EPA was 18 city, 28 highway, mpg better than the 11 A6 with the 3.0 supercharged 6 cyl.

Went to my dealer today. Due to allocation problems, even though I ordered my A8 NWB car back in August, it has yet to go into production and may not go into production for a while. I cancelled the order and thought, let me take the plunge and ordered a 2011 A8L
Oolong Grey
Nougat Brown Interior
Premium Package
Driver Assist Package
Cold Weather Package
Full LED Headlights
Night Vision Assist
Purchase Price of $ 90,110. I think it is a pretty good deal. I don't know if I will lease or purchase. I should take delivery in February.

As optioned, invoice (excluding $875 Destination Charge) is $86,955 (MSRP of $93,500) looks like a very good deal. I still think everyone should get the Dual Pane Glass---a comparatively cheap option @ $600 (retail) and well worth it.
Congrats again! :^)

What is the real benefit of dual pane windows?

What is the real benefit of dual pane windows?
Provides additional insulation from outside temp conditions, and reduces outside wind/road noise. It also is harder to break the glass in event of someone trying to break into the vehicle---won't totally prevent a break-in; just makes it more difficult.

Is anyone else not a fan of the full LED headlights? I think they are too busy and disjointed from the rest of the car. I saw a picture of a euro version 2011 A8 that had the normal Audi headlight and frankly it looked a lot more classy. I think the spyshots of the new S8 show that type of headlight.
I think that this is one upgrade that actually degrades the car. In terms of functionality, the full LED's are not substantively any better than bi-xenons.
If the full LED's were somehow integrated into the body panels differently, it may have looked better, but they look like an after thought by some overzealous engineer.
