Dropped it off in Munich on 6/21. Audi paperwork says they're shipping it to San Diego.
Harms ED site says its on the Selene Leader departed on 7/7 port ETA 8/4 in San Diego.
Selene Leader docks in San Diego on 8/6 and leaves 8/7 for Japan.
Called Harms. They say it cleared customs on 8/5 in HOUSTON (Huh?). ED site says nothing about a customs clearance date and the Selene Leader never went there.
Now no one is certain where the car is.
Dealer has been working hard to figure it out but hasn't gotten a straight answer from anyone yet.

No doubt it will get straightened out, but disconcerting none the less. Much better if it was still Audi's car...

Sorry about your trouble, spacey!
I'm sure they will find your car (or build you new). Hold on there and keep us posted.

Nope, this doesn't surprise me at all. Look at my thread...

I am a little surprised that it cleared customs in 1 day, mine took over 6 weeks.

Audi Customer Care has been pretty much useless in this whole thing, and I have been highly disappointed with their lack of "caring", I have already requested for my warranty to be extended but expect that there should be other "compensation" as well...

Called Harms again today. Said it cleared customs in San Diego on 8/5. Say U.S. Customs records show that as well. "Car is sitting on a pier in San Diego". Helpful but still odd since ship got to S.D night of 8/5 at the earliest.
Dealer got Audi port people to locate car. Port people say it cleared customs "yesterday". Don't understand the week discrepancy.
Dealer notified transportation company to pick up car for delivery as soon as possible.

Dealer has really worked the issue, but it looks like they aren't provided much information during the E.D. re-delivery process. They appear to get much more insight into "normal" deliveries, as they are the "owner". Person at E.H. Harms was courteous and helpful, and even returned a phone call. Hopefully the car will arrive undamaged. More info when I know.

I will say, the re-delivery process seems to be the Achilles heel in the E.D. experience

How did it turn out? As posted much earlier last year, my car was lost! So "Par" for the course so to speak. Achilles heal of Audi's ED experience!!

The car arrived a few days after that post. It was delivered to the correct port of entry and the dealer worked to locate it and get it delivered to me. There was a small paint chip caused during transportation with a damage report left in the car. The dealer took care of the issue without question.

So it all worked out. I would do ED again, but the return shipping process could definitely be improved. Cars shipped direct from the factory are covered, but ED cars are not as they have been driven and likely are dirty. Then there is the issue that when it is transported it is your car, not owned by the dealer. You have no opportunity to refuse delivery if it shows up damaged.
