View Full Version : NEED HELP/HAVENT BEEN ABLE TO PROGRAM MY GARAGE DOOR OPENER WITH HOMELINK ernestolopez 07-05-2010, 01:31 PM I have been trying to program the garage door transmitter with Homelink.Neither car the A6/BMW750li has beeb able to link.Followed all steps in manual. Is their something Iam missing? Please advice. Thanks A6Gary 07-05-2010, 09:47 PM When I tried doing the programing on my '06 A6 Avant per the manual, I discovered that the owner's manual incorrectly states that the Homelink sensor is located on the right side. After numerous failed attempts, I then found out that the Homelink sensor is actually located on the left (driver's) side. Follow the directions in the owner's manual, but hold your remote on the left (driver's) side. You shouldn't have any problems programing now. Dufferdude 07-05-2010, 10:11 PM Might have a rolling code opener. You then need to push the "learn" button on the garage door opener main unit. The directions in the owners manual worked for me. zzz4 07-06-2010, 04:02 AM Might have a rolling code opener. You then need to push the "learn" button on the garage door opener main unit. The directions in the owners manual worked for me. The sensor is to the right of you when standing in front of the car facing the car. But I suspect that it's a rolling code opener. Mine is and, honestly, it's too much of a hassle for me to program it. jnystr 07-06-2010, 04:41 AM I have a 08 C6. It took me a few times but I did get it program. I would start by clearing everything in homelink. The drivers side is the correct location for the sensor. Make sure you follow all directions and keep trying. The lights will flash on and you will be on your way. WNT2FLY 07-06-2010, 06:22 AM To get mine to program I had to use the secondary button on the garage door remote. Since the main button was already paired w/the garage door opener, making the car "learn" the main button caused it to fail (the car was programmed correctly, but the door can't have two devices from the same button, for lack of better terms). Programming the car and using the secondary button on the garage door opener resulted in immediate success. Did this on my A4 and recently our A6... fe342185 07-06-2010, 06:39 AM I guess it can be on either side of the bumper but on my 08 with Sline bumper the receiver was on the passenger side as noted by the right circle. It does look like it can fit on the left side though. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4079/4768124292_0cfb63f727_b.jpg ernestolopez 07-07-2010, 07:52 PM I want to thank everyone for their help.I got the Homelink programed, both on the A6 and the BMW 750LI.Thanks again to all the members. irenesbob 07-07-2010, 08:00 PM Lucky you. My cooperative just got a new security system installed and the garage door opener is now not compatible with Homelink (the old less-secure one was). "Ultimate in security" they say since any decent thief knows how to crack Homelink (really, the drugged up high school students that broke in last time 8 years ago couldo it? Why did they hack the door apart into splinters?). It is now a royal PITA to have a separate remote in the door pocket with those 3 buttons staring at me in my 2010 A6 - lol!! Minor stuff though |
