I am new to the site which was recomended for your knowledge.
I have an 06 A6 Avant 72000miles. The engine is 2.0 TDI 103kw 140bhp. Engine Code BRE.
During an emissions test there was a bang so the test was stopped. I am told that oil pump has broken and the engine needs replaced. Any thoughts please?

This was a common problem. US Passat TDI used the same oil pump assembly. The engine might not need to be replaced but it does need to be torn down to be inspected.
